Week of March 29, 2026 – Peanut eggs, old Florida, dance coaching, visiting Comadre, window work, & Peggy’s Waltz

3/29/2026: Today began in the low 60s and warmed into the mid 70s. Cloudy morning ensued by an also-cloudy afternoon.

3/30/2026: Today began in the high 50s and warmed into the low 80s. Quite sunny.

An excellent summary of the dance coaching on 3-30-2026 with Tatiana & Misha.During this lesson, when the topic of piano-playing came up, they suggested that I play a song for my first spotlight. The definition of a spotlight at Arthur Murray Studio is fantastic: “Spotlights are 30-60 second dances where you get a chance to reinforce social patterns and/or simply have fun performing.” This song-idea took root, and the result will be found in the final note.

3/31/2026: Today began in the low 60s and warmed into the 80s. Mostly cloudy morning, partly cloudy afternoon.

4/1/2026: Today began in the low 60s and warmed into the low 80s.

4/2/2026: Today began in the low 60s and warmed into the mid-80s. Sunny morning.

4/3/2026: Today began in the high 60s and warmed into the 80s. Cloudy morning. Partly sunny afternoon.

4/4/2026: Today began in the high 60s and warmed into the 80s. Mostly sunny.

Final note: As referenced above, there was a suggestion made during Monday’s coaching session that inspired me to compose a brief waltz that could be used in a spotlight dance. I have already practiced to it, albeit only at 60 beats per minute (20 bars per minute). The final tempo played in the video just below is 85 beats per minute or about 28 bars per minute. I may slow it down as is needed. That’s definitely a benefit to being able to play one’s own music.

In regard to the metronome, I decided to keep it in the recording because it is great for practicing to, and I find it interesting how the sound fades into the background as the waltz progresses and then reemerges toward the end. Also, the wood block works well with the name. The name? Let me explain. It was inspired by the humorous analogy of the “pirate leg” during my coaching session with Misha and Tatiana on 3-30.

Imagine this: A pirate (ostensibly named “Peggy”) seated on a bar stool teaching a couple how to dance the waltz while keeping the time on his wooden leg.

And a supplemental accordion version (75 BPM for a more relaxed practice session):
