Week of December 17, 2023 – Seven inches of rain, the shower artichoke, y el buey navideño.

12/17/2023: Today began in the high 60s and cooled to the low 60s. Drizzly morning. Windy and cloudy throughout.

During the night, we received almost 6 to 7 inches of rain. Also, one of the trees in front of Jacobhouse fell because of the wind. Durante la noche, recibimos casi de 6 a 7 pulgadas de lluvia. También uno de los árboles enfrente de mi casita se cayó por el viento.

Lunch consisted of some eggs scrambled with chiltepin and Havarti cheese. These were topped with a bit of Cholula sauce and accompanied by a green salad made by Padre and dressed by Madre. Estos estaban cubiertos con alguna salsa Cholula y acompañados de una ensalada verde hecha por mi padre y aliñada por mi madre.
These are some quartered Wagyu shanks seasoned with black pepper, fresh rosemary, salt, and a little bit of Worcestershire sauce in preparation for roasting. Estas son unas piernas cuartas de Wagyu sazonadas con pimienta negra, romero fresco, sal y un poco de salsa inglesa en preparación de asarse.

Dinner consisted of the aforementioned Wagyu shank accompanied by a salad of cabbage, cucumber, tomato, olive, and banana pepper. For dipping the beef, there was a bowl of homemade BBQ sauce mixed with a little bit of mustard. Also, to drink, there was a glass of red wine. This is one of the apples that my brother gave us as a Christmas gift. It was pretty and had a good, sweet flavor. Esta es una de las manzanas que mi hermano nos dio como un regalo navideño. Era bonita y tenía un buen y dulce sabor.

At lunch, I ate a tray and a half of sushi and a bowl of miso soup garnished with cabbage, spinach, and fresh radish. The radish was very thinly sliced. I arranged the pear and the Greek yogurt in the form of a flower before sprinkling them with cinnamon. Arreglé la pera y el yogur griego en la forma de una flor antes de espolvorearlos con canela.

Dinner consisted of a pan-seared Belgian Blue burger-steak accompanied by a green salad made by Padre and bowl of homemade barbecue made by me. La cena consistía en un bistec de res molida de azul belga a la sartén acompañado de una ensalada verde hecha por mi padre y un tazón de salsa barbacoa casera hecha por mí.
A sliced pear accompanied by a spoonful of Greek yogurt and some walnuts. All of this was sprinkled with a little bit of cinnamon. Una pera en rodajas acompañada de una cucharada de yogur griego y unas nueces. Toda de esta estaba espolvoreada con un poco de canela.

12/20/2023: Today began in the low 40s and warmed into the low 60s. Mostly sunny.

Lunch of 12/20/2023: A fried mixture of eggs and leftover seasoned beef. This was accompanied by a green salad made by Padre and dressed by Madre. In the background, a bowl of soup made by Padre can be seen. It had beef, dumplings, and mushrooms. El almuerzo del 20/12/2023: Una mezcla frita de huevos y sobras de res sazonada. Esta estaba acompañada de una ensalada verde hecha por mi padre y aliñada por mi madre. En el fondo se puede ver un tazón pequeño de sopa que fue hecha por mi padre. Tenía res, bolas de masa hervida y hongos.

12/21/2023: Today began in the low 40s and warmed into the mid 70s. Sunny.

Lunch of 12/21/2023 consisted of a salad of lettuce, green cabbage, red cabbage, pan-seared Belgian Blue ground beef, a little bit of sour cream, some homemade barbecue sauce, and some sliced banana peppers. 12/22/2023: Today began in the low 50s and warmed into the high 60s. Cloudy throughout.

Lunch of 12/22/2023: Eggs scrambled with chiltepin, mozzarella, Greek yogurt, black pepper, and salt. These were accompanied by a green salad made by Padre and dressed by me. El almuerzo del 22/12/2023: Huevos revueltos con chiltepín, mozzarella, yogur griego, pimienta negra, y sal. Estos estaban acompañados de una ensalada verde hecha por mi padre y aliñada por mí.

This afternoon I repaired one of the hinges of a gate a little bit to the east of Jacobhouse. Esta tarde yo arreglé una de las bisagras de una puerta un poco al este de mi casita.
Dinner consisted of a Belgian Blue shoulder steak called a “Flat Iron Steak”. This steak was encrusted with coffee grounds and salt, roasted in the oven, and pan-fried. When it was plated, I accompanied it with a salad of cabbage, cucumber, and tomato. Additionally, there was a bowl of homemade barbecue sauce for dipping and a glass of red wine to drink. La cena consistía en un bistec de hombro de azul belga se llama “Flat Iron Steak”. Este bistec estaba incrustado con posos de café y sal, asado por horno y fritado por sartén. Cuando estaba emplatada, yo lo acompañé con una ensalada de repollo, pepino y tomate. Además, había un tazón de salsa barbacoa casera para mojar y una copa de vino tinto para beber.

12/23/2023: Today began in the high 40s and warmed into the low 70s. Mostly sunny.

The early morning of 12/23/2023. Padre, Wag, and I conducted the new herd of red Wagyus to the barn. La madrugada del 23/12/2023. Mi padre, mi tío y yo conducimos el rebaño nuevo de Wagyus rojas al establo.
This morning, I made another shower head. It is very similar to the first head, but the holes are half the size. Esta mañana, hice otra alcachofa de la ducha. Es muy similar a la primera alcachofa de la ducha, pero los agujeros son una mitad del tamaño.
At lunch, we enjoyed a taco salad. This salad consisted of romaine lettuce, spinach, green cabbage, red cabbage, pan-seared Belgian Blue ground beef, sliced avocado, a little bit of sour cream, and two types of salsa. It was delicious. En el almuerzo, disfrutamos de una ensalada de taco. Esta ensalada constaba de lechuga romana, espinaca, repollo verde, repollo rojo, res molida de azul belga a la sartén, aguacate en rodajas, un poco de crema ácida y dos tipos de salsa. This is the salad that Padre made for dinner. It consisted of romaine lettuce, spinach, red cabbage, and some finely sliced fresh radish. It looked quite pretty. Esta es la ensalada que mi padre hizo para la cena. Consistía en lechuga romana, espinaca, repollo rojo y algún rábano fresco en rodajas muy finas. Se vio bastante bonita.
