A nonplussed bovine (and tomato planting).

3/23/2020

(Above: This bovine was not enthused by my presentation of her food.)

Active Summary: Today I woke up, performed calisthenic exercises, and then proceeded to venture outdoors to help Padre give electrolytes to a couple ailing calves. This was followed by a beef pasture check and then by a return to Jacobhouse where I wrote for an hour before completing a discussion assignment for school. Garden activities ensued, whereupon I planted tomatoes, harvested peas, pulled up the peas, and harvested kale/ rapini / arugula for lunch.

(7:41 PM Update:) Afternoon activities began with calling Aneta’s Bistro to order some cabbage salad for takeout tomorrow and calling Home Depot to see about the Magic Chef Washer/Dryer warranty*. I next took some time to rest / write / clean the smoker before heading out to help with farm shenanigans. The lattermost activities entailed: feeding cattle, helping Padre IV a couple sick calves (same ones as yesterday), and performing an extensive beef herd health check. After finishing up for the evening, I returned to Jacobhouse where I prepared a cucumber salad for dinner and got some frozen dough thawing/rising (results likely to be seen in tomorrow’s post).

Final Note: Tomorrow I actually intend to go to Aneta’s and procure some cabbage salad. Also on the agenda is: planting the Malabar Summer Spinach, procuring dry oak wood, and starting some short ribs smoking tomorrow night.

*They are coming out Wednesday morning.
