Bird Entrance - the hole through which some wrens entered Jacob's container home.

Winged guests (and new neighbors).

3/27/19:

Building Summary: Today I was unable to work much on Jacobhouse due to the arrival of 95 more heifers destined for the paddock next door. Before tending to them, though, I did get a chance to modify the DSL conduit (cut it to appropriate length, and then applied the coupling and sweep-90). Also, after welcoming the neighbors with a thorough bout of vaccination, I measured out where the south counter is going to be along with the position of the outlet that will be fitted above it.

Commentary: I didn’t spend a lot of time in Jacobhouse today, but there was one highlight I should mention. It occurred this afternoon when I was about to repair some fence with Padre and Wag. I was on a quick visit to the container to fetch the drill and screws, and there, as I opened the door, I caught sight of motion at the far end.

Squinting (it was dark), I quickly found that the cause was a pair of wrens. The first instinct was to approach them and shoo them out, but I knew that if I did that, I’d be between them and their point of exit. That’s not a good place to be when it comes to flapping creatures, so instead I went outside – leaving the front door wide open – and entered through the container’s original doors. I saw one of the birds fly out, but the other I did not see. It likely flew out as I was venturing around… or so I hope.

As for the point of entry for these winged guests, I was able to quickly find the culprit. Somehow, the board Padre positioned over the utility hole (the bit that we widened yesterday), had gotten moved. It may have been while I was working this morning. Either way, that’s where they entered. I won’t be surprised if they decide to return, for that is the way of wrens.

Bonus picture: Reaching into the Moo Magic collection tube to retrieve more Jacobhouse funds, I found that there was a spider hatch-out. They are presently harmless, so I let them be.

Final Note: I had to delay my Home Depot order a day so I could benefit from Madre’s 10% discount (she’s ordering tomorrow). Fortunately, this gave me time to think of additional supplies for the ‘cart’: a few more sheets of concrete board for the bathroom walls and floor, a 72×80 sliding glass door for the office end, and a 36×80 pine slab for the bathroom’s pocket door*.

As for actual morning activity, I ‘ll likely begin framing in the panel box.

Additional Note: There’s five days left to vote for Master Blend Cattle Company in the Fedex business grant contest. Click here if you want to do so. Thanks!

*All of these in addition to the aforementioned bathroom exhaust vent and bracket boxes.
