During the pasture inspection this morning, Padre and I gave injections to a calf. I grabbed the animal by the jaw, and it bit me. It was very small wound. Durante la inspección de los campos esta mañana, mi padre y yo le pusimos inyecciones a un ternerito. Yo agarré el animal por la mandíbula, y me mordió. Fue una herida muy pequeña. 
Lunch consisted of a fried mixture of eggs and salmon. This was topped with Cholula hot sauce and accompanied by a green salad made by Padre. El almuerzo consistía en una mezcla frita de huevos y salmón. Esta estaba cubierta con salsa picante cholula y acompañada de una ensalada verde hecha por mi padre.

Dinner consisted of a reverse-seared Belgian Blue burger-steak accompanied by a cabbage slaw made by Padre. The beef was seasoned with Worcestershire sauce, powdered coriander, salt, and black pepper. It went well with homemade barbecue sauce. La cena consistía en un bistec de res molida de azul belga dorado al revés y acompañado de una ensalada de repollo hecha por mi padre. La res estaba sazonada con salsa inglesa, semilla de cilantro en polvo, sal y pimienta negra. Combinó bien con salsa barbacoa casera.

Today I prepared a Mississippi-style Belgian Blue beef brisket. Here, I am browning it. Hoy preparé un pecho de res de azul belga al estilo de Mississippi. Aquí, lo estoy dorando. 
After browning the beef brisket, I put it in a pot with: chicken broth, pepperoncini, pepperoncini juice, butter, black pepper, and Ranch spices. Después de dorar el pecho de res, lo puse en una olla con: caldo de pollo, pepperoncini, jugo de pepperoncini, mantequilla, pimienta negra, y especias Ranch.

We spent a lot of time searching for the heifer calf in this photo. We thought it was going to be dead, but we were glad when Victor found it near Madre’s containers. Pasamos mucho tiempo buscando a la ternerita en esta foto. Creímos que iba a estar muerta, pero nos alegramos cuando Victor la encontró cerca de los contendores de mi madre. 
Lunch consisted of a fried mixture of eggs, chiltepin, fresh rosemary, and parmesan. We enjoyed this food after a short trip to Week’s Auction where we saw two busses that Padre bought. El almuerzo consistía en una mezcla frita de huevos, chiltepín, romero fresco, y parmesano. Disfrutamos de esta comida después de un corto viaje a Week’s Auction donde vimos dos autobuses que compró mi padre. 
Two wagons with lumber. This lumber arrived in two parts: one delivery in the morning and one in the afternoon. The last one was made by a Cuban man that was very happy when he learned that I could speak Spanish. He spoke very quickly. Dos vagones con madera. Esta madera llegó en dos partes: una entrega por la mañana y una por la tarde. La última la hizo un hombre cubano que se alegró mucho cuando aprendió que yo podía hablar en español. El habló muy rápidamente. 
Dinner consisted of leftover Mississippi-Style Belgian Blue brisket. This was accompanied by a green salad made by Padre and dressed with beef juice and homemade barbecue sauce. La cena consistía en sobras de pecho de Azul Belga al estilo Mississippi. Este estaba acompañado de una ensalada verde hecha por mi padre y aliñada con jugo de res y salsa barbacoa casera.

An afternoon activity of 9/18/2024: Padre, Wag, and I milked a cow so that we could feed the colostrum to three new calves. Una actividad por la tarde del 18/9/2024: Mi padre, mi tío y yo ordeñamos una vaca para poder alimentar con calostro a tres nuevos terneritos.

Dinner consisted of a Belgian Blue burger steak encrusted with the “Everything but the Bagel” seasoning that Wag gave us. This steak was reverse-seared and accompanied by a green salad made by Padre. Unfortunately, the seasoning (especially the dried garlic and onion) was too strong for us, put I discovered that the flavor of sesame was quite good. Next time, we are going to experiment with only sesame seeds. La cena consistía en bistec de res molida de azul belga incrustado con la sazón “Everything but the Bagel” que nos regaló mi tío. Este bistec estaba dorado al revés y acompañado de una ensalada verde hecha por mi padre. Desafortunadamente, la sazón (especialmente el ajo seco y cebolla seca) fue demasiado fuerte para nosotros, pero descubrí que el sabor de sésamo era prometedor. Próxima vez, vamos a experimentar con solamente las semillas de sésamo.

Lunch: Round steak encrusted with coffee and salt and browned over high heat in a pan. This was accompanied by a colorful salad made by Padre. This is the blue cheese called “Rogue River Blue” that my brother gave me. This type of cheese won the award for “best cheese in the world” in the years 2019-2020. And yes, it was definitely the best blue cheese of my life. It has the flavor and texture of aged cheddar but with hints of “blue”. Este es el queso azul se llama “Rogue River Blue” que me regaló mi hermano. Este tipo de queso gano el premio al “mejor queso del mundo” en los años 2019-2020. Y sí, definativamnete fue el mejor queso azul de mi vida. Tiene el sabor y la textura del queso cheddar maduro pero con toques del “azul”. 
The salad I had for dinner on 9/19/2024 consisted of: Romaine lettuce and green cabbage topped with avocado, pan-seared Belgian blue skirt steak, tomato, homemade BBQ sauce, olive oil, and of course some of the blue cheese my brother gave me. La ensalada que comí para la cena del 19/9/2024 consistía en: lechuga romana y repollo verde cubierta con aguacate, bistec de falda de azul belga a la sartén, tomate, salsa barbacoa casera, aceite de oliva y, por supuesto, un poco del queso azul que me regaló mi hermano. 
I tried a slice of apple covered with some of the blue cheese. It was a flavor bomb in my mouth. Probé una rodaja de manzana cubierta con un poco del queo azul. Fue una bomba de sabor en mi boca.

It was an exquisite combination. La cena consistía en un bistec de res molida de azul belga incrustado con sal y pimienta negra, dorado al revés, y cubierto con un poco del queso azul que me regaló mi hermano. Fue una combinación exquisita.

These are the cookies that were made from the dough in the previous photo. I used a “surreal” filter and that’s why they look three-dimensional. Estas son las galletas que se hicieron de la masa de la foto anterior. Utilicé un filtro “surrealista” y por eso se ven tridimensionales. 
Lunch on 9/21/2024: Some scrambled eggs with chiltepín, mozzarella and fresh rosemary accompanied by a green salad made by my father. El almuerzo del 21/9/2024: Algunos huevos revueltos con chiltepín, mozzarella y romero fresco acompañados de una ensalada verde hecha por mi padre. 
In the afternoon, my father and I gave a calf some intravenous fluids to balance the acidity of its blood. This morning (9/22) the calf is doing better. Por la tarde, mi padre y yo le pusimos a un ternerito unos fluidos intravenosos para equilibrar la acidez de su sangre. Esta mañana (22/9) el ternerito está mejor. 
Dinner consisted of a reverse-seared Belgian blue burger-steak topped with the blue cheese my brother gave me. It was accompanied by a green salad and a bowl of homemade barbecue sauce. La cena consistía en un bistec de res molida de azul belga dorado al revés y cubierto con el queso azul que regaló mi hermano. Esta estaba acompañada de una ensalada verde y un tazón de salsa barbacoa casera.

Final Note:
As of September 22, 2024, I am a 32-year old fellow, and I: • Have been working on a series of books for 10+ years (about a third of my life). • Live in a shipping container I remodeled into a home. • Am designing/building another shipping container for guests. • Am enjoying life on a farm with my family and lots of delicious food. • Regularly share that food with plenty of folks at the Master Blend beef shop • Am on a real-life adventure with a woman I love who goes by the name of Luna. It is an interesting life. I look forward to seeing what the future brings while, to the best of my ability, relishing the health and happiness of here and now.
