Week of May 7, 2023 – It’s still there.

5/7/2023: Today began in the low 70s and warmed into the high 80s. Mostly sunny. Quite clear.

Morning of 5/7/2023: Today my brother and I stayed at the resort. I swam three times, ate, and practiced some Spanish at the bar. It was a restful day. La mañana de 7/5/2023: Hoy, mi hermano y yo nos quedamos en el complejo. Yo nadé tres veces, comí buena comida, y practicé alguna del español en el bar. Estaba un día tranquilo.
First course at the Pescador (seafood restaurant) at Grand Park Royal of Puerto Vallarta. A plate of salad and seafood. El primer plato en el restaurante Pescador (un restaurante de mariscos) en el complejo de Grand Park Royal de Puerto Vallarta: Un plato de ensalada y mariscos.
Second course(s): A plate of fried seafood (mussels, calamari, & shrimp) and a delicious bowl of seafood soup. Los segundos platos: Un plato de mariscos fritos (los mejillónes, calamares, y camarones) y un bol de sopa deliciosa de mariscos.
Main course: A pan-seared tuna filet laid on a bed of asparagus and topped with greens. El plato principal: Un filete de atún que estaba sellado en una sartén, servido encima un lecho de espárrago, y cubierta con rúcula.
After another swim in the afternoon, my brother and I enjoyed dinner at Andiamo, the Italian restaurant.
Eggplant topped with a blue goat-cheese spread which itself was topped with arugula. All of this was served on a bed of house-made marinara sauce.
Main course: A sautéed chicken breast topped with a plenitude of roasted vegetables (similar in flavor to ratatouille).
Tiramisu. Two layers of cookies and mascarpone cream sprinkled with cocoa powder and soaked in a brew of coffee and Baileys.

5/8/2023: Today began in the low 70s and warmed into the high 80s. Quite sunny.

La mañana de 8/5/2023: Mi hermano y yo fuimos al pueblo por autobús. Costó solamente diez pesos por persona.
For lunch of 5/8/2023, my brother and I ate lunch at Pepe’s Tacos. This is the large menu positioned on the wall above the table where we ate. Para almorzar en el día de 8/5/2023, mi hermano y yo fuimos a Tacos de Pepe. Este es el menu grande en la pared cerca de la mesa donde comimos.
The Tacos al Pastor. At this time, I am calling them the best tacos of my life. The flavor was so tremendous that it needed no condiments. Los tacos al pastor. En este momento, ellos estuvo los mejores tacos de mi vida. No necesitaron ningún condimentos.
Crispy-fried Hawaiian tacos. Both the texture and the flavor were magnificent. Los tacos hawaianos estaban fritos, y ambas la textura y el sabor estuvieron magnificos.
The lunch bill. I included it here, because it has the prices for all the foods. La cuenta del almuerzo. Yo lo incluyé aquí, porque tiene los precios de todas las comidas.
This morning, my clothes were washed. After that, someone put my clothes on hangars, and then, put those clothes on my bed. Esta mañana, mis ropas estaban lavadas. Después de eso, alguien puso mis ropas en ganchos, y entonces, puso esas ropas sobre mi cama.

The first course in Andiamo’s Restaurant: A salad from the buffet that consisted of fresh greens and roasted vegetables in a Caesar dressing. El primer plato en el restaurante de Andiamo: Una ensalada del buffet que consistía de verduras frescas y vegetales asadas en una aliño de Caesar.
Second course: I enjoyed the eggplant with goat cheese once again. It was topped with arugula and placed atop a bed of tomato sauce. El segundo plato: Yo disfruté la berenjena con queso de cabra otra vez. Estaba cubierta con rúcula y encima un lecho de salsa de tomate.
The main course: Noodles in a cream-of-mushroom sauce and topped with sautéed mushrooms. El plato principal: Fideos en una salsa de crema de champiñon y cubierta con champiñones salteados.

5/9/2023: Today began in the low 70s and warmed into the high 80s.

This morning I finished the first draft of the eleventh chapter in the second book I have been writing.
The ocean just a tad later in the morning.
While waiting for the bus into town, my brother and I noted the impressive floral arrangements on the hotel beside the resort at which we are staying.
The first plate of our lunch in the restaurant “El Companario”: A bowl of soup accompanied by some fresh tortillas. El primer plato de nuestro almuerzo en el restaurante “El Companario”: Un bol de sopa acompañado de unas tortillas frescas.
While my brother and I were eating, a portrait of Frida watched us. Mientrás mi hermano y yo estabamos comiendo, un retrato de Frida nos miró.
The main course for lunch: Some roasted chicken accompanied by rice, beans, and a small salad. All of it was delicious. El plato principal del almuerzo: Algún pollo asado acompañado de arroz, frijoles, y una ensalada pequeña. Toda la comida estuvo deliciosa.

The first course of another dinner at Andiamo restaurant: A beautiful salad from the buffet. El primer plato de una otra cena en el restaurante de Andiamo: Una ensalada bonita del buffet.
The second course consisted of a slice of fried eggplant which was topped with arugula, bread crumbs, and Parmesan cheese. El segundo plato consistía de un rodaja de berenjena que estaba frita y cubierta con rúcula, pan rallado, un poco de queso parmesano, alguna salsa de jitomate.
The main course: A filet of Mahi Mahi atop a bed of rice and which was topped with some sautéed calamari, mussel, and shrimp. There was also a pea sprout for garnish. El plato fuerte: Un filete de Mahi Mahi encima un lecho de arróz y que estaba cubierta con algún calamar, un mejillón, y un camarón que estaban salteados. Había un brote de arveja para adornar, también.
Dessert: Excellent tiramisu that consisted of two cookies, some mascarpone cheese, a little bit of coffee and Baileys, and was sprinkled with cocoa powder. El postre: Un tiramisú excelente que consistía de dos galletas, algún queso mascarpone, y un poco de café y Baileys. Todo de este estaba espolvoreado con cacao.

5/10/2023: Today began in the low 70s and warmed into the high 80s. Very sunny.

My brother and I went to the buffet for lunch. There was a lot of seafood, and I enjoyed it a lot. Mi hermano y yo fuimos al buffet para almorzar. Había muchos de los mariscos, y los disfruté mucho.
The main course: A spicy filet of grouper in tinfoil, a chicken meatball, octopus in a half an orange (a fantastic idea for using the leftover oranges used in juice earlier in the day), and a delicious mixture of seafood (shrimp, mussels, and calamari). El plato principal: un filete picante de mero en un papel de aluminio, una albóndiga de pollo, algún pulpo en una mitad de naranja (una idea excelente para usar las naranjas sobrantes que estaban usadas en jugo más temprano en el día), y una mezcla deliciosa de mariscos (camarones, mejillones, y calamares).
For the dessert, I enjoyed a small plate of spicy tuna ceviche. Para el postre, yo disfruté un plato pequeño de ceviche picante de atún.

We enjoyed the diner of 5/11/2023 in Adiamo’s restaurant. The first course consisted of a beautiful salad from the buffet. The combination of lettuce, roasted vegetables, and Caesar dressing was magnificent. Disfrutamos la cena de 10/5/2023 en el restaurante de Andiamo. El primer plato consistía de una bonita ensalada del buffet. La combinación de la lechuga, los vegetales asados, y el aliño de Caesar estuvo magnifica.
The main course: A filet of mahi-mahi on a bed of rice seasoned with saffron. There was a little bit of ratatouille on top of the filet along with a pea sprout for garnish. El plato fuerte: Un filete de mahi-mahi en un lecho de arroz que estaba sazonado con azafrán. Había un poco de ratatouille encima de filete y un brote de arveja para adornar.
Los tortellinis que estaban llenos de queso y cubiertos con salsa de jitomate. Estuvieron deliciosos.
The tiramisu at Andiamo’s is excellent, and I knew it would be my last chance to enjoy it for quite some time. So, I did. El tiramisú de Andiamo es excelente, y yo supe que no podría comerlo otra vez por mucho tiempo. Por eso razón, yo lo pedí y lo disfruté una ultima vez.
Night of 5/10/2023: I walked along the beach to the sound of the waves. La noche de 10/5/2023: Caminé por la playa a la sonido de las olas.

5/11/2023: Day began in the 70s and warmed into the high 80s. The climate also transformed from the dry and sunny skies of Vallarta to cloudy and humid atmosphere of Florida.

The breakfast of 5/11/2023 consisted of a small ham sandwich, some sweet pineapple, and a cup of black coffee. El desayuno de 11/5/2023 consistía de un sandwích pequeño de jamón, alguna piña dulce, y una taza de café negro.

While we were going to the airport, I saw a soccer field encircled by a running track. Mientrás estabamos yendo al aeropuerto, yo vi un campo de fútbol rodeado de una pista para corredores.

5/12/2023: Day began in the high 60s and warmed into the high 80s. Partly cloudy.

Two carrots and two tatumas (calabacitas) that I harvested this morning.
The barn-front flower garden flourishes in the morning.
These are two Belgian Blue ribeyes that I prepared this morning by rubbing them with salt and coffee ground. Estos son dos chuletones de Azul Belga que yo preparé esta mañana por masajandolos con sal y posos del café.
Miso soup from Sushi Bistro. It was decorated with fresh flowers and a little bit of red cabbage. Una sopa de miso del restaurante Sushi Bistro. Estaba decorada con flores frescas y un poco de repollo rojo.
A tray of delicious sushi. There were salmon, tuna, and eel avocado rolls. Una bandeja de sushi delicioso. Había rollos de salmón, rollos de atún, y aún un rollo de anguila y aguacate.
This afternoon, I prepared 12 bags of compost for the Moo-Magic stand. Esta tarde yo preparé dose bolsas de abono para vender en el puesto de Moo-Magic.
Dinner of 5/12/2023: A Belgian Blue Ribeye accompanied by a salad that consisted of fresh greens, carrot, and roasted peppers in a tangy dressing. Padre and I drank red wine with the meal. La cena de 12/5/2023: Un chuletón de Azul Belga acompañado de una ensalada que consistía de veduras frescas, zanahoria, y pimientos asados de frasco en un aliño ácido. Mi padre y yo bebimos algún vino tinto con la comida.
The dessert consisted of a sliced Granny Smith apple sprinkled with cinnamon. There was also a bowl of sour cream for dipping. El postre consistía de una manzana de Granny Smith en rodajas y espolvoreada con canela. Había un bol de crema ácida para mojar, también.

5/13/2023: Today began in the low 70s, warmed into the high 80s, and then cooled off with the arrival of nearby storms.

Noon of 5/13/2023. El mediodía de 13/5/2023.
We enjoyed a taco salad for the lunch of 5/13/2023. Disfrutamos una ensalada de taco para el almuerzo de 13/5/2023.
We could see the clouds of a distent storm while we were checking the cows in the afternoon. Podríamos ver las nubes de una tormenta distante mientras estabamos chequando las vacas en la tarde.

Dinner of 5/13/2023: A pan-seared & cheese-topped cubed round steak accompanied by a salad of tatuma squash, red cabbage, carrot, olive, and roasted peppers in a tangy dressing. La cena de 13/5/2023: Milanesa con queso, sellada en una sartén y acompañada de una ensalada de calabacita, repollo rojo, zanahoria, aceituna, y pimientos asados en un aliño ácido.
Dessert: A sliced Granny Smith apple sprinkled with cinnamon and accompanied by a spoonful of Greek Yogurt. El postre: Una manzana de Granny Smith en rodajas, espolvoreada con canela, y acompañada de una cuchara de yogur griego.

Final Note: It is pleasant to know that even though I’m not at the seashore at the moment, it is still there being enjoyed, and it will be there when I return… wherever and whenever it may be.

Está genial a saber que aunqúe no estoy en la playa en este momento, la playa todavía está allí, la gente todavía la está disfrutando, y el mar me está esperando mi vuelta.
