Final Note: A conversation concerning decisions in Grimorzak’s 10th chapter of TLB:

“You guarantee that you will not be lost to the masses? That when this reconfiguration is complete that you, THE Collector, and you, THE Builder, will exist?”

The two splinters glanced at one another, and the Builder noted, “I told you he would resist. Guiuth and Keona are still clear within his mind. They aren’t the dim images that they are in ours.”

Grimorzak started at this insight; he was going to protest before realizing that the fear he experienced at this reconfiguration was indeed partly rooted in that recent loss.

“Of course they are,” the Collector replied, “They were comrades, and to him, their dispersions may as well have occurred a bird’s breath ago. Nevertheless, I do have a bit of logic that may be of comfort to us all.”

She regarded Grimorzak with her kindly, lilac-hued eyes; “I cannot guarantee that our new iterations in a few moments will be completely what they are right now no more than I could if we did not engage in reconfiguration. I can assure, though, that change need not be permanent, and better put, it never is. Change itself must change. It is the way of the Existential Sphere. We may deem a change good, or on deeming otherwise, we may choose to surge forward to a completely new iteration. We may even choose to return to an iteration very similar to this one.”

“Choice—” began the Builder, skepticism clear in his tone, but the Collector held up a slender, violet finger.

“Yes. Choice. True, those choices are made by the measure of antecedent events, and true, those measurements are made by an instrument far from infallible: our consciousness. That consciousness, however, will always endeavor to set a course of conceivable and foreseeable good. It’s why we are here in the BCR1 Observatory with an aim at Biolog entelechy instead of floating through the cosmos as clods of inanimate feldspar. The point is, so long as we have the consciousness to choose, and so long as we have the strength and ability to act to the will of that consciousness, it is only logical that we do so.”

  1. Many happenings this week, much recalled as I looked through… your final notes on the topic of ‘conscious’ choice… Much to consider there. Thanks again for sharing.
