Week of April 2, 2023 – La oruga grandota.

(Above: This morning, as I walked past the chiletpin garden, I observed that one of the plants was almost completely denuded. Further observation revealed the telltale droppings of the culprit: a very large caterpillar.)

4/2/2023: Today began in the mid 60s and warmed into the high 80s. Mostly sunny. Quite dry.

4/3/2023: Today began in the high 50s and warmed into the mid 80s. Mostly sunny.

4/4/2023: Today began in the high 50s and warmed into the high 80s. Mostly sunny.

4/5/2023: Today began in the mid 60s and warmed into the low 90s. Mostly sunny.

4/6/2023: Today began in the low 60s and warmed into the low 90s. Mostly sunny and quite dusty.

4/7/2023: Today began in the high 60s and warmed into the low 90s. Sunny and dry.

4/8/2023: Today began in the high 60s and warmed into the high 80s. Mostly cloudy. Still quite dry and dusty.

Final Note: Though two very-healthy and very-large hornworms were found on the chiltepin plants, I am pleased to say they did not end up in the skillet this time.

  1. Padre also pleased your garden visitors were not skillet bound. Sure looks like a lot of cows in some of those pictures.
