2/28/19:
Building Summary: Today I moved the portable A/C away from Jacobhouse’s northwest corner, because that is where the electrical switch box will be attached (and an electrician may be stopping by tomorrow). I also implemented the ‘mini-gutter’ I’ve been talking about (more in commentary).
Commentary: This morning I finally got to do something I’ve been wanting to do for some time. I installed the mini-gutter. It is not so much a gutter, though, as it is an extra ridge. The way I made it was by clamping a piece of 1 ½” trim flat against the edge of a piece of 7 ½” trim that was up top. The trim is only ¾” thick, so by doing this, there was ~ ¾” remaining for me to work with. I made sure that a little bit of that ¾” was below the roof, but the majority was above . By doing this, I created a ‘lip’ that the rain will follow to either side of Jacobhouse rather than drip straight down onto the door / window area. Both Padre and I are quite interested to see how it works come the next rain.
Final Note & (*): Tomorrow I will be tending to a slight mistake I made while applying the gutter. Padre and Wag both swear that they couldn’t see it when they walked up, but I saw it pretty much instantly when I revisited the container after putting up the mini-gutter. The northern edge is up a tad compared to the southern edge. It isn’t noticeable by itself, but when one compares the crack at one end to the crack at the other… Well, that’s why I’m going to fix it.
It should also be (re)noted that an electrician might be making his way out to Jacobhouse tomorrow morning – likely one of the guys who put in my ‘residential pole’. I look forward to seeing what he thinks of the future plans.
Additional note: The FedEx contest is going on for another month, and voting reopens every 24-hours. If you have time, please feel free to vote on Master Blend Cattle Company here. Thanks!
So now we know you’re a perfectionist, wonder where you acquired trait. By the way great video for the FedEx grant
