The bovines break out.

6/8/2020

(Above: Bovines broke into this treeline sometime earlier in the day, providing Padre and I an extra 20-minute task at the end of our afternoon.)

Active Summary: Today began with the typical regimen of calisthenics, writing, and a beef pasture check with Padre. This was ensued by my returning to Jacobhouse – inspecting/sampling both gardens along the way – and writing for about 2 hours. Around 11 AM, I tended to some Master Blend correspondence, started potatoes baking for lunch, and prepared some dough for a special sort of bread I had in mind to go with a Picanha dinner. Morning ended with my bringing some baked potatoes over to the studio and enjoying them there alongside a salad.

(7:11 PM Update:) This afternoon began with preparing/baking the bread intended for later, tending to some more Master Blend correspondence (preparation of a letter for two weeks from now when new beef arrives), resting for a brief time, and writing for about 15 minutes. Farm activities ensued soon after the lattermost bit, and these tasks included: snipping sharp wires poking up from some concrete in an effort to protect bovine feet, feeding / catching / vaccinating a multitude of plump cows, inspecting the herd for ailing calves, and checking the beef pasture*.  It should be noted that two extraneous tasks were completed, as well: the filling & transport of Moo-Magic bags to the compost stand and the installation of a cell-booster antenna for the freezer room.

Final Note: At present, I am doing my best to type out this entry and upload images by 7:30 PM; that way, I can spend the remainder of the evening cooking/eating picanha and engaging in some leisure time. Pictures of this evening’s dinner will of course be included with tomorrow’s post. In regard to tomorrow’s activities, there are two ‘out-of-the-ordinary’ planned: the completion of antenna installation in the freezer room and a trip to Ipanema where we shall sup upon a medley of meats.

*During this check, we found that some of the Holstein herd had broken into a place where they were not supposed to be. It ended up taking about 20 minutes to fix.
