(Above: I enjoy when it rains outside on days such as these. The summer’s sun does not shine directly into the back window of Jacobhouse, so I can open the curtains completely.)
Active Summary: Today began with writing, a beef pasture check with Padre, and calisthenic exercises. This was followed by over an hour more of writing and then by my venturing outdoors to procure a steak* to thaw for lunch. While out, I visited with Charlie the welder for a brief time and then returned to Jacobhouse for some leisure time. Right as I was sitting down to engage in that leisure, however, I was notified that there was a Master Blend customer in the driveway. I tended to the lady – a lively older woman with a New Jersey accent / attitude* – and then recommenced with some Saturday morning gaming. This continued until about 12 PM which is when I began preparing the large chuck steak for lunch.
(5:05 PM Update:) Afternoon activities began with my writing a portion of this entry, a rest as it rained and thundered outside, and a resumption of some leisure time. I next made my way outdoors where I taped up the inside of my right boot*** before helping with a few cattle-related activities, including: salting the troughs, catching/helping transfer embryos into three bovines, and pitch-forking feed. Padre and I made it back indoors before rain arrived for the third-or-fourth time today, and now I’m finishing up today’s entry before partaking of a little bit of watermelon and seltzer.
Final Note: It was quite a restful and enjoyable day. I intend to make tomorrow similar.
*A 2.8 lb Master Blend chuck steak. I believe I could only fit ~ 2.75 steaks of similar size on the grill if I wanted to.
**I do believe the woman casually referred to her husband as a ‘cock-sucker’ at one point. He was in the car with her, and appeared halfway uncomfortable and amused.
***There is presently a hole in that boot, which is rather unfortunate due to the recent increase in precipitation. Saying that, if it were not for that increase in precipitation, I likely would not have realized there was a hole in the first place.
