3/5/2019:
Building Summary: Today was a planning day that took place both at Jacobhouse and at old-house. I spent the first bit of morning online at Zoro.com, looking around for the various pieces and parts I would need (and making a list* out of suitable findings). This was followed by my venturing down to the farm and making measurements for the vent cavity. After collecting the numbers and some extracurricular riding-around-a-cold-field, I returned to old-house and planned the first segment of the vent cavity.
Commentary: The first thing I did this morning was browse Zoro for the parts I would need in the coming days at Jacobhouse. It felt productive, but after a while of online searching, I started to get a bit tired of it. I wanted to go outside and do something, or at least I thought I did.
Alas, it was inclement outside (and that’s putting it politely). The wind was blowing, and the air was damp and imbued with little droplets of frigid moisture. I knew it was going to be cool, so I dressed in a couple jackets and an extra pair of pants, but for some reason they seemed to do nothing against the damp chill. So, after taking some measurements at Jacobhouse and riding amongst the beefers with Padre, I returned to the warm old-house where I commenced to use those measurements I’d taken to formulate a plan.
Final note: We’re still discussing what I’ll do in regard to electric. I may do as I said yesterday (have Advanced Electric come out for a part of it and watch how its done), or I might just have to learn via online research how to wire lights, other various fixtures, and ‘high-pull’ outlets. Also, tomorrow, I will be getting the range hood out of container #2 and affixing it to the wall above where the stove will be (that way I can build the vent cavity around it).
*Many of the items I have on that list will be procured from Zoro, but I’m pretty sure I’m going to go to Lowe’s or Home Depot for light fixtures. My reasoning behind this is that at the physical stores I will be able see what the fixtures will actually look like, and the pricing is actually comparable if not better than those I found at Zoro and Amazon.
Bonus Image: I forgot to take an ‘outside’ picture today, and I really didn’t want to go back into the cold to do so, so I instead did a 10 minute pen-drawing. Not wanting to embarrass myself, I drew a picture of the manure-runnel where I was working this afternoon. (It’s going to be a special kind of ‘pretty’ either way. No matter if it is crudely drawn or in photograph.)
Additional note: The FedEx contest is going on for another month, and voting reopens every 24-hours. If you have time, please feel free to vote for Master Blend Cattle Company here. Thanks!
Your manure rill yields a new dimension in your penmanship, I know that spot even though I wish I didn’t.
PS. I find sketchs as good or even better than notes for tagging memories & ideas
