(Above: A success for Jacob – the window is now fastened in place.)
Active Summary: Today I woke up, performed calisthenic exercises, worked on some additional UF application requirements, and then ventured outside to help Padre perform a beef pasture check. After that, I aided in calf-cow activities* and then returned to Jacobhouse where I tended to bread (for lunch) and then wrote for about four minutes before being called back outside to search for the nimnal calf we had been helping. Somehow it had wandered off a good 500 feet and hid around the corner of the grain room.
I returned to Jacobhouse once more, began to write, and this time made it only 40 seconds before I was called by a Master Blend customer. I ventured outside, met her, and then was dismayed to find that she and her boy had been locked out of their vehicle. Naturally, I had to provide aid – a phone lend because her phone was locked in the care. After they had help coming on the way, I gave them access to the Master Blend freezer room amenities (a couple seats and diet sodas if desired) and wandered back to Jacobhouse where I temporarily gave up on writing because I knew there was bound to be more interruptions. I instead cleaned the house.
This was ensued by more Master Blend customer activities and then by a trip to town with Madre and Padre with the hope of acquiring Aneta’s cabbage salad and soup. This could not be done unfortunately, but I was able to make an order for tomorrow’s lunch. On returning home, I wrote for a goodly 25 minutes before it was time to prepare lunch.
(9:01 PM Update:) Afternoon activities consisted of tending to Master Blend customer and cattle-related tasks: feeding/catching adult bovines, IV’ing a sick calf with Padre, and performing a health check out in the pasture. This was followed by my working on the Master Blend freezer room’s south window whereupon I trimmed off the nailing flange, inserted it into the window opening, and fastened it in place with screws. A beef pasture check ensued, and after that, a partly failed coconut ice cream experiment**. Dinner pictures are found below.
Final Note: I shall make no plans for tomorrow, because it is Saturday, and that is my no-plan day.
*Padre has been attempting to train a simple-minded calf to nurse milk from its mother.
** I found out that I could make a very creamy/mouse-like concoction if I removed the liquid from the cream and placed the solids into a chilled bowl. Unfortunately, the recipe I was utilizing had a typo of ½ tbs. of salt instead of ½ tsp. I took it outside and threw it over the fence for the bovines to eat.
Friday was a tough day, but you made me laugh. Thanks
