Building Summary: Today I started off by measuring, marking, and cutting a piece of ½” plywood for the interior side of Wall #4 (the shelf wall). This was ensued by the same procedure for the first segment of Wall #2 (the pocket door wall) and then by my making additional modifications to that segment by toting it inside and using the actual wall-frame as a stencil. It was as thus that I procured the true dimensions of the board, trimmed it, and then fastened it in place*. Later on in the morning, I commenced the process of enclosing Wall #1.
Commentary: This morning was a long’un, and though it started off rather cool and comfortable, by the time I checked beefers with Padre, the sun was at full force, and my pace was beginning to flag. Fortunately, I hit a second wind when it was determined that we’d be waiting for some cattle feed to come in. It was during this latter part of the morning that I somehow measured, marked, and cut the boards for Wall #1 in about one quarter of the time it had taken me to do the same for the small section on Wall #2.**
Bonus Images: A black and red (twice-stabbed) ladybug I found on a nearby nightshade plant.
Final Note: Tomorrow, I plan on fastening up the boards I’ve already cut for Wall #1, and then I may begin assembling the shower stall***.
*I also had to cut a few pieces of Padre and I’s recently manufactured 1×3 (from when we were building the soffit). That way I had something to which I could attach the western edge of Wall #2.
**To be fair, the small piece for Wall #2 required a special slanted cut, because the container ceiling bows in at that point and had warped the corner where walls #2 and #4 meet.
***This is a tentative plan, but I do believe it would be much easier to bring in/build the shower stall in the opened-up bathroom rather than do so when the pocket door frame is in place and enclosed.
