1/30/19:
Building Summary: Today I began the process of putting together CPVC piping for the cold water line. This included taking down measurements, cutting, and fitting together the pieces (no gluing yet; I won’t do that till both lines are ready).
Commentary: The entire time I spent at Jacobhouse today was a highlight in its own right. I know this sounds like an exaggeration, but I will explain. It was 39 degrees Fahrenheit when I went out this morning with a dampness in the air that cut straight to the flesh through my three jackets and same number of pants. The cold only got worse as I rode the Segway down to the building site – the wind apparently being quite fond of blowing into my collar and burrowing down into my clothes.
But then I went into Jacobhouse.
The heater had been running for a couple hours by the time I got there, and inside that little space, it was a warm haven where I could actually work in comfort. To make matters even better, it was pipe-day. I enjoyed messing about with the little ½” CPVC pipes far more than the 3″ sewer line pipes, because the former fit together and pull apart just like LEGO pieces do. Also, to cut the ½” pipe, all that is required is a little bit of hacksaw action versus a combination of hacksaw and sawzall.
The best part of it all, though, is that I expect tomorrow morning to be spent in the exact same fashion. I actually look forward to it.
