2/7/19:
Building Summary: Today I found that I could put the internet conduit all the way on the north side of Jacobhouse instead of two floor rails in (second rail now reserved for electric line). After this discovery, I inserted, sanded, and glued together the conduit. This was followed by a ‘rest-of-the-morning’ pursuit that consisted of planning for electrical outlets and experimenting with the portable A/C unit.
Commentary: This morning had two primary highlights. The first occurred during my conduit installation, or I suppose I could say it was the conduit installation. As stated above, I discovered that I could utilize the first floor rail out from the wall instead of the second (and thus save space for the actual electrical line). After this, I dry-fitted the conduit pieces together and shoved them all the way through to the container’s front side. Once I found out how much was sticking out of the back door, I used the hacksaw to cut off the excess (didn’t take off too much, though, because the conduit pieces weren’t fitted all the way onto each other). I next pulled all of the conduit line back out, detached the pipes, and began the gluing process which subsequently led to quite a surprise. Over the past couple weeks, I’ve glued together regular PVC sewer line and CPVC piping. None ‘stuck’ as quickly, though, as the conduit did. I pushed the pieces firmly together, and within two or three seconds, I could not twist them at all*.
The second highlight for this morning occurred after Padre, Wag, and I had taken the portable A/C out to Jacobhouse for experimentation. We wanted to see if the exhaust could be funneled out of the container’s southwest drainhole. Alas, it was found quite quickly that the drain was not near large enough to permit free airflow (the exhaust fan had excellent strength). So, what Padre and I determined we’d do instead was simply set up the A/C on the future indoor step that will extend all the way across the entrance of Jacobhouse. There, we will be able to duct the air through the same (and possibly slightly enlarged) utility hole that everything else is already coming in / going out through.
As for tomorrow’s activities, I’m not entirely certain what I will do. Perhaps I will begin marking outlet locations with green painter’s tape. I’ll also need to start planning the separator wall for between the bedroom area and the office.
*This was brought to light when I was attempting to match the text on a couple pieces of conduit. I would not ordinarily perform this sort of activity on a ‘liquid carrying’ pipe. Doesn’t seem like a good idea.
