1/26/18:
Building Summary: Today I put together the sewer pipe incorrectly once more. This time everything was in the correct position, but it twisted as I was tapping it together and fused before I could correct the twist. Fortunately, Wag was able to go down to Sparr and get me another coupling. With that coupling and Padre’s help (and after a little bit of wood trimming near the west end of Jacobhouse), the in-home sewer line is now nearly complete. All that remains is the shower portion.
Commentary: This morning when I went down to Jacobhouse it reeked of pipe glue. I expected as much, though, because both Madre and Padre had mentioned it to me before I got there. To combat the smell and potential fumes, I opened the front door and the two back doors. Alas, all the nice warm air from the heater departed within a minute, but so did the smell. It was like a wind tunnel in there when the breeze was blowing.
That brings me to a certain humorous highlight for this morning. Right as me and Padre were heading out to check beef cows, we found that Madre had driven down to the farm in the van. With her, she had brought Jacobhouse’s big ole bucket of paint, the kitchen sink, and a box fan – the lattermost being to blow out the fumes she had smelled the prior evening. I told her that the stench had been taken care of (due to both doors having been opened), and she nodded approvingly.
I could not help but notice afterward, though, that despite the satisfied nod, Madre offered to carry her box fan to Jacobhouse. I think she was checking to make sure my judgment was sound. Madre was looking out for me.
Madre fan. The foldable clamp-table was her idea as well, and it has been used every day since it was brought to Jacobhouse.
