Cows beneath a stormy sky south of Jacobhouse.

Freekend 2, Day 2 (and some fungi).

6/9/19

(Above: Cows having a lazy Sunday morning beneath a stormy sky.)

Commentary: Freekend, Day 2. Need I write more? No, but I will. Firstly, I will state that the game, Path of Exile, has done a superb job with it’s new patch, and it has granted me a very enjoyable weekend thus far. Secondly, I will state that I am quite ready to begin work on the container home once again – even moreso now that I have something of a plan that I can follow to completion. After today, it will be Jacobhouse every morning until July 16 when I head out west on a short trip to see my brother. The objective is to see how much I can get done between now and then.

Here is the almost completed list. I will likely have more specifics to add in the future, but this is the general idea of the chronological order:

  1. Finish Wall #6
    1. Trim outside with PVC trim / caulk
    2. Sprayfoam cracks on inside.
    3. Plywood inside.
  2. Shower drain (already have).
    1. Doesn’t have to be done at this step, just needs to be done before flooring begins.
  3. Closet-wall (First priority because I need to do this so I can put up the (steel) paneling and then the fixtures.)
    1. Build the pull out wardrobe
      • Already have drawer slides, need lumber / hanger rack / plan to create the actual pull-out
    2. Shelves should also be made for the back section, because it will be much easier to work in that space without the plywood in place.
  4. Finish up the front
    1. Complete the soffit
    2. Cover and trim around the entire door and window area.
  5. Panel the walls after all plywood is up
  6. Hook up all fixtures after paneling is up.
  7. Hook up panel box to pole outside.
    1. Need Alan for this one.
  8. Build front step (kitchen)
  9. Flooring
  10. Vanity sink (after flooring, so I will not have to cut special pieces for it)
    1. Cut hole into Vanity for waterlines / drain
    2. Position it and fasten it into place.
  11. Toilet (after flooring, so no special cutting required except for drain hole).
    1. Simply need to hook it up to waterline and sewer line.
  12. Finish Bathroom Closet
    1. Create cover for bottom
    2. Make shelves
    3. Add / finish door.
      • Perhaps ¾” plywood with differently painted metal sheeting (same as walls) as a front.
  13. Pocket Door
    1. Paint and install
    2. Once this and all the bathroom fixtures are in, the bathroom will be complete
  14. Kitchen Counters (both sides)
    1. Structural supports (procure wood for this and the closet-wall at the same time?
      • Possible drawer on far left side – already have slides.
    2. Finding and ordering the actual counter material
      •   Will require measurements (already have).
  15. Hook up sink after counter is in place
    1. Have sink
    2. Need faucet / drain.
  16. Bed
    1. Cow-wood finished and placed (along with some plywood) to make a suitable frame for mattress.
    2. Shelving / bin holders built into base.
      • Will likely require some additional lumber, but may be able to use all from farm for this.
  17. Fix
    1. Straighten stairs leading up to porch
    2. Add railing
    3. Log chains switched with small chains presently outside
  18. Furnish
    1. Grill for front deck
    2. Mattress from oldhouse
    3. Desk
      • Possibly use one from office near old-house.
      • Same goes for chair from office near old-house.
    4. Tenant
      • Jacob.
Mushrooms Padre and Jacob found just south of Jacob's container home.
Bonus Image: Padre and I found these weird, funnel shaped fungi growing from a dried piece of dung. This close-up image shows that the cones are actually holding miniature mushroom heads?

Final Note: As per the list, tomorrow I shall begin the caulking and trimming of Wall #6.
