3/28/19:
Building Summary: Today I began the morning by adding to and completing my Home Depot list. The materials included: dryer vent hoses for the bathroom / kitchen exhaust, a bathroom exhaust fan, an interior door slab (for the bathroom pocket door), sliding glass doors for the office end, single-gang bracket boxes, an air intake vent*, and more that I’m likely not remembering at the moment. I ended up ordering all these after lunch with Madre, who included me on her 10% discount.
This was followed by my venturing down to Jacobhouse and framing the space around the panel box – a process that consisted of measuring, cutting, and fastening together some 2x6s and 2x4s so they would fit into the relatively small place I had planned for them (pictured above). It took some time, but by the end of the morning I had assembled a suitable frame**.
Commentary: Whether it is finally placing ‘that’ order or producing/positioning a well-measured frame, it always feels great to help Jacobhouse move forward. However, seeing as I’ve already described today’s building-related highlights above, I shall use today’s commentary to present a couple very interesting pictures I took after getting home for the evening. The first was my attempt to capture a perfect ring of basil flowers. I don’t know why I like taking pictures of the basil plant, but I just do.
As can be seen, there was a minuscule visitor of non-floral variety. I wanted a better picture of him, so I searched through the camera settings and utilized the 1cm focus. It took some effort to hold the camera steady, but I’d say the result turned out surprisingly well. I added a tad bit of brightness and contrast, but left the saturation untouched. The variety of colors in this image were already spectacular.
Final Note: Tomorrow I will be sturdying up the frame I made today, and afterward, I’ll install the outlet box just below the panel (a receptacle where I will be able to plug in the portable A/C). Then, if I still have time, I may take the Romex wire we received yesterday and run a line from the panel box to the outlet that will be installed above the south counter.
Additional Note: There are four days left to vote for Master Blend in the FedEx business grant contest. It’s really simple if you want to do so. Just click here, fill out the little form, and automatically receive a hefty bit of Jacob-appreciation.
*I need an air intake vent because Jacobhouse is quite airtight. This means that whether it be portable A/C, bathroom exhaust vent, or oven hood, I need a source of air. If I do not, the whole house will turn into a vacuum chamber. Not the fatal type… just the sort that taxes appliances with unnecessary strain..
** Padre and I fitted and leveled the frame this afternoon before fastening it with a couple screws. Tomorrow it will be easy work to sturdy it all up.
