3/16/19:
Building Summary: Today I started off the morning by emailing Custom Service Hardware to ask after the specs of their listed “Panel – Base End Skin – Salem Collection – Brown”. If it is 34 ½” high and 24″ wide, I could use it at the west end of kitchen counter, have an open (non-cupboarded section) for the washer/dryer, and then put in a 12″ section of drawers right beside the 36″ sink portion.
After sending the email, I journeyed down to the farm, filled the bits of ditch I won’t need to access again, and then put down the final floorboards in Jacobhouse*.
Commentary: It’s still a novelty having water at Jacobhouse. This morning, my hands got coated with dust** while digging some runaway ‘self-tappers’ from the floor grating. Instead of having to walk all the way up to the barn for water, though, I simply stepped outside and washed the dust off at the spigot.
On another note aside from water, I had an interesting thought occur after I’d finished installing the final floor support boards. By now, I’ve become accustomed to navigating that awkward surface, but I remember back when I first placed those boards down, it was quite uncomfortable to walk upon them (probably because the 12″ gaps are nowhere near large enough to accommodate my 16″ boots). I just find it interesting how natural it has become for me to navigate those boards, and I wonder how strange it will feel when I’ve just placed plywood atop them. It just goes to show that people can get used to anything, even if that ‘anything’ clearly isn’t optimal.
Final note: Tomorrow I will likely take more measurements for Jacobhouse cabinets both beneath my future bed and in the closet-wall. I’m not sure if I will actually go with cabinets in those slots, but having the measurements will help me devise a plan. Also, I’m going to be messing about with the CPVC piping (finding parts, and if having access to all the required pieces, joining the in-house plumbing to the stub-up below Jacobhouse).
Additional Note: Master Blend could win $50,000 via the Fedex Small Business Grant Contest. If you have the time, please vote for us here. Thanks!
*That is, until I lay the plywood boards on top.
** Boot droppings, sawdust, PVC chaff, and metal ‘ribbons’ from frequent drilling.
