Summary: This morning began with calisthenics, a ride around the beef pasture with Padre, and my putting together a hefty Master Blend order. I next returned to Jacobhouse and tended to various housekeeping tasks until 8:15 AM when the customer was supposed to arrive. I waited for about 15 minutes* at the freezer room after which the customer called and told me he was going to be 20 more minutes. This was ensued by my venturing to Jacobhouse, and there, writing for a brief time before heading back out to tend to the customer who did not show up until I had waited another 10 minutes. After he did arrive, I gave him his beef and rung him up via credit card – a process during which the fellow blew an enormous gout of cigarette smoke at my face without realizing it**.
I made my way back to Jacobhouse after this whole shenanigan, changed my shirt on account of its smoky smell, wiped up, and then partook in a morning’s worth of writing until 11:45 AM. A visit to the studio was followed by my grilling a couple sizeable Master Blend burgers. Lunch occurred at 1:00 PM and consisted of burger-steaks and Padre-made/Madre-dressed salad.
(6:30 PM Update:) Afternoon activities were initiated with some Master Blend bookkeeping, revision, and rest. This was followed by my stepping outdoors, tending to another Master Blend customer, and helping out with farm tasks, including: checking herd health in the feed barn, catching a mentally-deficient calf and equally deficient cow to keep in a small lot so they could find one another, searching for a few ailing animals in the pasture (and running one up to the barn with Padre’s and Wag’s aid), and performing the evening Segway ride with Padre. On returning to Jacobhouse I tended to more bookkeeping, and I am now working on this day’s entry.
Final Note: I will likely eat a baked potato for dinner this evening. It may be accompanied by a spinach salad and a small bowl of chocolate-oat-and-barley topped ice cream.
*During this time, I read quite a lot of the manual for Padre’s and mine propane-powered generators.
** He really is a nice person and usually shows up on time – a good customer in other words. The lack of awareness this morning, however, was a bit ludicrous.
