Blufus (and a broken-hearted melon).

7/8/2020

(Above: Yes, it’s another melon, but it is not the same as any of the prior ones. Instead of being dark green with light stripes, this one was light green with dark stripes. Apparently it lived a lonely existence… but that shall be explained below.)

Summary: Today began with calisthenics, writing, and a beef pasture check with Padre. I inspected both gardens on my way back from the lattermost task, tended to a few daily duties, and then set about writing / outlining for two hours. After those two hours were complete, I ventured with Madre to Ocala where we procured Home Depot and Sushi Bistro pick-up orders. A lunch of sushi / onion soup / cantaloupe / watermelon occurred at 1:00 PM.

(6:44 PM Update:) This afternoon began with writing for an additional 40 minutes and a brief rest in the Jacobhouse bed. Next came agricultural activities, including: tending to a talkative Master Blend customer, helping catch a couple cows for breeding / embryo transfer, capturing a few calves for vaccination, and checking the pastures for ailing animals. To conclude farm tasks, Padre and I took a seltzer break before walking* a final circuit of the south pastures.

A mischievous Belgian Blue calf running about with a piece of plastic in its mouth.

Final Note: After concluding this entry, there shall be leisure time and watermelon for dinner. Writing of which, that watermelon is probably the best of the season thus far. Both Padre and I agree that seeded watermelons, despite having a greater risk of mealiness and inedibility, have greater potential for flavor and texture than seedless melons.

*Rain prevented us from utilizing Segways.
