Besieged (and excellent Ipanema).

Active Summary: This morning began with calisthenics, writing, and a beef pasture patrol with Padre. Following these activities, I returned to Jacobhouse (checking both gardens along the way – found one hornworm), completed a few brief chores, and worked on much more writing. Later in the morning, I ventured out to the Master Blend freezer room where I filled up a seltzer tank with water* and set up an old laptop that my brother left at the farm. To conclude morning activities, I tended to some more writing, attempted to cut up a watermelon**, prepared cube-steaks for grilling, and marinated some tomatoes for the same purpose. Lunch occurred at 1.

(5:40 PM Update:) Afternoon activities began with a brief visit at the studio followed by my return to Jacobhouse where I wrote the initial portion of today’s entry. Shortly after this, I ventured outdoors where I tended to a Master Blend Beef customer, checked on the laptop I was endeavoring to set up earlier in the morning, and then aided Padre and Wag with quite a number of farm-related activities. Today’s tasks included: working on the bovine sewage line, capturing / vaccinating calves, and checking the pasture for ailing animals. Now I am back in Jacobhouse finishing up this entry before figuring out what exactly I’m going to make for dinner… likely an omelet of some sort.

Final Note: In regard to today’s final activities, Padre just brought me some shaggy inkcap mushrooms that I’ll be sauteeing and serving alongside some French Omelets. As stated in the prior entry, here are pictures of last night’s repast at Ipanema. The lamb truly was spectacular.

*I hooked up Seltzerator refill #6 last night after returning from Ipanema; the carbonated water is already ‘charged’ and ready to drink.

** This one was no good at all; it was mealy and bore a somewhat rotten flavor. I may need to tell the farm market folks that both the watermelons I obtained from them this past week were ‘defective’. The center of today’s melon was a downright liquid, and it splashed all over the kitchen’s south wall when I cut into it. It was not a pleasant experience.
