The notched and fitted kitchen-floor in Jacob's container home.

Kitchen flooring, and the painted Jacobhouse.

4/9/19:

Building Summary: Today I fastened down the major portion of my future office’s flooring. This was followed by adding more bracing to the raised kitchen area. Then, before heading home for the morning, Padre helped me cut the 26″ x 8′ piece of ¾” plywood to cover up the entire dishwasher / sink / stove area.

Afternoon Update: Padre and I measured and cut out the sections required for the two drains and five water pipes. This was followed by our testing the fit. It did, so tomorrow morning I’ll be able to fasten the 26″x8′ plywood piece in place.

Commentary: It’s 8:00, and after the day that I’ve experienced, the ole noggin’ is a bit exhausted. I will say that by way of highlights, I really appreciated Padre’s help today – both in the morning and the afternoon. We got a lot done, and I’ve got an easy place to start tomorrow morning. It really was satisfying to see how the notched plywood piece fit into the kitchen area.

Also, now that I have the pictures, I will now reveal the fully painted Jacobhouse! Madre did a superb job. I particularly like how the top and bottom have been kept white as accents. As for the pictures below, the first has been included because it was taken exactly 8 months ago – the day that the container was lifted onto its four pylons*.

Final Note: As mentioned above, I’ll likely start off tomorrow morning by fastening the primary kitchen piece. Next, will come the measuring and cutting of the remaining kitchen sections. If there is still time after that, I will be able to start on the bathroom flooring.

*A harrowing feat performed by Padre and Wag via two pave loaders and some old rusty logging chains… and an achievement that shall indubitably be revealed in a future post.
