12/27/2020:
Dawn of 12/27/2020. The morning ride-around was made extremely bright by the sun’s reflecting off the heavily frosted grass and soil. The central trough surrounded by reposing bovines. Another evening’s worth of watering led to the garden being coated in ice once again. Lunch today: a grilled Master Blend sirloin accompanied by a Padre-made and Madre-dressed salad. Midafternoon of 12/27/2020: a frost burnt pasture.
12/28/2020:
Dawn of 12/28/2020. Midday at the barnyard; the sky was clear and incredibly blue. The almost completely wired panel box in Madre’s office-project. Sunset of 12/28/2020. In hindsight, I could have positioned the sun down just a tad further. Still, the view of palm trees at sunset ushers forth a favorable aura of ‘tropics’. The Radiship. Radiship Pizza. Mustard greens acted as the roiling sea, but they were unfortunately not the tastiest addition (a tad too strong). At least it made for an effective artistic representation.
12/29/2020:
Morning of 12/29/2020: A Wagyner Blue and an a Wangus standing just behind the Moo-Magic stand. Still-life of kale and arugula. I enjoyed the juxtaposition between the organic centerpiece and the inorganic surroundings. Afternoon of 12/29/2020. Calves nibble on frost-burnt grass beneath a lightly clouded sky. Gaur-sister and Gaur-Mother (we hope). Sunset of 12/29/2020 from the postern side of Jacobhouse.
12/30/2020:
Dawn of 12/30/2020. A low fog covers the distant pasture. Sunrise. A freshly born Beefmaster calf peeking at me from behind its mother. Calf mimicking mother’s behavior #1. Calf mimicking mother’s behavior #2. Ritsabittle #4: This day I ventured to Cassadaga Spiritualist Camp. There, I enjoyed walking around, observing many intriguing sights, and reposing at the Lake Helen Pier. First sight of Lake Helen. The tannins present in the water give it a darker hue and make it quite reflective. Lake Helen at water-level. As I walked through this mangal, I was reminded that in about 1 week, I will be seeing a similar sight in Mexico. Vegetation surrounding Colby’s healing spring. A view from the pier where I spent much of my time in Cassadaga. The Milk House (back then). The Milk House now. A residence of a hue very similar to that utilized in Jacobhouse. I’m not certain what sort of flower this was, but it was quite colorful and there was a plenitude of them. For lunch this day, I dined at the Sinatra Restaurant in the Cassadaga Hotel. The first course was a minestrone soup. The materials seemed fresh, but it could have used a tad more spicing. The Caesar salad was also a little bit bland, but the blackened salmon on top more than made up for it. Whoever was cooking knew that salmon is best served at medium or medium rare. Thus, the fish was flavorful while remaining very juicy. A visit to DeLeon springs. A Jacob who has successfully immersed himself in the spring after a somewhat toasty time in Cassadaga. Sunset of 12/30/2020. Dinner: A prosciutto & blueberry pie. With a little bit of maple syrup, this was downright delicious.

12/31/2020:
Dawn of 12/31/2020: Hungry bovines gathered at the gate to the feed barn. Sunset of 12/31/2020. A nocturnal visit to the garden yielded a grand sight of flourishing arugula.
1/1/2021:
Dawn of 1/1/2021. The garden seems to be enjoying a respite from cold weather. A particularly large Misato Rose Radish. Afternoon of 1/1/2021. Clearly seen beams of sunlight could be seen to protrude from the clouds. Today is the first day I have seen the Jewels of Opar flowering since the recently passed sub-29 degree weather. The first image I sent to my brother this year. Dinner: An Angus sirloin tip roast accompanied by a plenitude of greens. A splendid ending to the beginning of a New Year.
1/2/2021
Morning of 1/2/2021: A Wagyu and its adopted B.Blue sibling peer at me through a gap between some toppled tree trunks. Gotta eat the leafy greens… but thankfully not these ones. These are juvenile Mexican Poppies. Not only are they spiny; they are also poisonous. Young bovines consuming supplemental fodder in the feed-lane. Homemade egg noodles (using farm-fresh eggs). The same noodles doused with a homemade Alfredo sauce. (2c parmesan, 1.5c heavy cream, 0.5c butter, 1/8 tsp. garlic powder, 1 pinch salt, and 1 pinch pepper. Heat then simmer milk & butter for 2 minutes, add spices, and then slowly add cheese.) Dinner: A spring mix salad accompanied by a piece of Padre-made pizza. And of course a healthy portion of noodles, as well.
Final Note: This was quite a transformative week for multiple reasons, many of which surrounded the trip to Cassadaga. This upcoming week’s post shall be interesting in a different way, for it shall be inundated with images of a country that has never before been documented on Find Walden.
Great post, seems like a lot happens in seven days… looking forward to the big change in scenery that’s coming up.
