3/26/19:
Building Summary: Today I started off by installing the switch box beside the door. This consisted of moving the small side-board (again), threading wires through the box’s postern side, attaching the box via screws, and then stripping the wires. After that, I applied brackets to the conduit leading up from the floor to both office outlets and to the bathroom’s GFCI outlet.
Afternoon Update: The farm was quiet this afternoon, so I had extra time to work on Jacobhouse. During this short span, I fetched the drill and sawzall and commenced to widen the utility hole. Now, it has enough space to allow for the A/C exhaust vent and for the 2″ conduit pipe that will hold the wire coming in from the meter outside.
Commentary: As can be told by the summaries above, it was a varied morning (and afternoon) down at Jacobhouse, and I’m quite pleased to write that it all went well. This brings me to my highlights for today.
Both* occurred this morning with the first being my installation of the switch box. It was a slight hassle moving the side-support once again, but aside from that, the process was simple and ended with a very neat fit (shown in the picture above). The second point of interest was the implementation of the conduit brackets. I had never used ones like them before. They had only one nail/screw-hole, and because of this, I wondered if they would actually hold the lines in place. I need not have doubted, for as always, the self-tapping screws worked their magic. Now, the conduit segments are completely locked into position.
Final Note: I’ll be ordering the new bathroom exhaust fan and bracket boxes either tonight or tomorrow morning. As for actual activities, I believe I’ll be able to mount the above-counter outlet on Jacobhouse’s south side, and perhaps if the Romex roll has come in, I’ll be able to run a line from the panel box to that new outlet. At some point, I’ll also be modifying the DSL conduit**.
Additional Note: There’s less than one week left to vote for Master Blend Cattle Company in the Fedex business grant contest. Click here to do so. Thanks!
*I say both, but there was actually a third highlight this afternoon. The process of enlarging the utility hole was not easy. Partly due to the metal becoming ‘finger’ thick on the west side and partly because of the many dangling wires, protruding pipes, and cramped quarters. Needless to say, it was a relief to have the task done successfully and without mishap.
**Measuring, cutting, and applying the sweep-90 we got at Sparr Farm Supply yesterday. The intention is to having it rise ~ 3″ to the left of the electrical outlet in my future office area..
