8/10/2020 – Klip Dagga

(Above: Klip Dagga [or Lion’s Ear]. I smelled and tasted its leaves today after learning that they were not poisonous. The smell was reminiscent of a very subtle household cleaner while the flavor was akin to a bitter watermelon. Supposedly dried leaves can be smoked to produce a feeling of euphoria while a tea made from the same material produces a significant calming effect.)

A small diagram for the the drain plumbing in Madre’s upcoming container project. It is modeled after the Studio’s and Jacobhouse’s drainage systems.

Summary: Today began with calisthenics, a beef pasture inspection with Padre, and a couple housekeeping tasks. This was ensued by about 2.5 hours of writing / outlining which ended at 11:05 AM with my placing potatoes into the oven for baking. I also took the time to cut up a couple watermelons*. Lunch occurred at 12:10 PM and consisted of baked potatoes, a delicious green salad, and plenty of watermelon.

(7:02 PM Update:) Afternoon activities started with about 40 minutes of writing, a repose which accidentally extended to a similar duration, and with my ordering some kitchen supplies off of Amazon. Farm tasks followed, and included: moving feed buckets, catching a cow for breeding, checking the beef pasture & barn for ailing animals, aiding in the emptying of a malfunctioning dump-wagon**, and performing the evening beef pasture inspection with Padre. Now that I have returned to the refreshingly cool indoors of Jacobhouse, I am finishing today’s entry before partaking in leisure and cooking dinner.

Final Note: Tonight’s dinner will consist of a frozen-to-grilled chuck steak, greenmix salad, and watermelon.

*Now, only two remain of the original eight.

** Done while it was ‘cloudy’ out… but during a time when no clouds covered the sun.
