(Above: Nickles Melon once again exhibiting Mercedes-Melon qualities.)
Active Summary: Today began with writing, a beef pasture check with Padre, and calisthenic exercises. This was ensued by my cleaning Jacobhouse and then riding with Madre on a short journey to the post office, bank, and Nickles’ produce stand. On our first pass by the stand, he was not present, but on our way back from the bank, he was there with a trailer filled to the rails with freshly picked watermelon and cantaloupes. After procuring four of the former melons and one of the latter, Madre and I returned home. There, I wrote for about forty minutes before visiting Padre at the studio and then making a lunch of sautéed burger-steaks & leftover vegetables (zucchini and eggplant).
(5:20 PM Update:) Afternoon activities began with my cutting up a Nickles’ seedless melon, cleaning the kitchen a tad more, resting in the Jacobhouse bed, and writing for about 40 minutes. This was followed by venturing outdoors to aid in the usual cattle-related activities (feeding / catching / checking / etc.) with the additional task of toting a recently born Angus calf out of the Holstein heifer lot where those black & white creatures were beginning to gather and examine the youngling with their sizeable bovine snouts. The little bovine almost urinated on me as I carried it, but other than that, it behaved quite well. To conclude the daily farm shenanigans, I took a seltzer-break with Padre in the freezer room and then returned to Jacobhouse.
Here is a picture of a grasshopper followed by images of last night’s spectacular dinner:
Final Note: Following the conclusion of this entry, I will be performing the day’s final beef pasture check with Padre, eating a light dinner of watermelon / apple-bread / couple thin slices of beef, and initiating leisure activities.
