(Above: The Pastry-Topped Ratatouille. Basically a Ratatouille topped with a crispy pastry-like crust. I wonder how it tastes…)
Active Summary: Today began with calisthenics, writing, and a ride around the beef pasture with Padre. This was followed by my returning to Jacobhouse and writing for about one and a half hours. At that point one of my Master Blend customers contacted me and said that he would be arriving in 30 minutes. I utilized this time to add some items to Madre’s building supply list and to deliver that list to her (whereupon she also proposed a journey to Sushi Bistro, to which I readily agreed). Thus, after tending to the Master Blend customer, we rode into Ocala to pick up lunch at Sushi Bistro. Back at home, I waited for another Master Blend customer for about 30 minutes (organizing freezers as I did so), and after he did not show, I decided it was time for lunch. We ate at 1 PM.
(8:10 PM Update:) Afternoon activities consisted first of some cooking; I produced a ratatouille sauce (comprised of a mashed melange of vegetables and spices), and I organized the vegetables I sliced up yesterday into classic Ratatouille spirals within a cast iron skillet. A brief rest was followed by my venturing outdoors where I helped with various cattle-related activities and aided Padre in measuring his sail-shade rig. A break of about 1.5 hours occurred thereafter during which I cleaned Jacobhouse while my creation – a ratatouille topped with pastry dough – cooked in the oven. After removing it, I returned outdoors, checked beefers with Padre, and helped the Master Blend customer who arrived at 7:50 PM to pick up his side-of-beef.
Final Note: Tomorrow will be the beginning of a Freekend. Indeed, it has been a hair over three months since the last – which also means that it has been over three months since my return from Europe and since my brother has departed for Seattle. We’ve also moved entirely out of Oldhouse in these past 3 months, and I’ve dealt with a business that has seen much of that namesake – business – since the onset of the COVID-19. Much has occurred, and I welcome the impending respite.
