(Above: Malabar Summer Spinach. It is continuing to grow and flourish in this moist weather.
Active Summary: Today began with writing, a ride around the beef pasture with Padre, and calisthenic exercises. I proceeded to spend most of the remaining morning outlining (more writing) as it drizzled outside, and near noon, I prepared ground beef for lunch and pizza dough for dinner. After a delectable midday meal of grilled burger-steaks and Padre-made garden salad, I returned to Jacobhouse and tended to about an hour’s worth of Master Blend correspondence, a brief rest, and a similarly brief bout of computer-related leisure time. Now, I am going to venture outdoors and help with cattle-related tasks.
(6:26 PM Update:) Farm acitivities today consisted of feeding the bovines, capturing calves to wean via ‘flapper’, treating a little one with pinkeye, and then performing a beef pasture check with Padre. Afterward, I ensured the Moo-Magic stand was well-stocked (it was) and then set about checking Garden #2 and #1. At #1, I found a hornworm busily chewing away at one of the cherry-tomato plants (plucked it off and fed it directly to a Wagyu heifer who seemed to thoroughly enjoy it along with the tomato leaf I presented the wriggling critter upon). I next neatened a couple little plots of earth and sowed ~ 10 zucchini seeds. Now I am back in Jacobhouse, planning the pizza I’m to prepare for dinner.
Final Note: Tomorrow I will be driving to the farm market and procuring vegetation for the coming week. My primary hope in regard to the whole trip is that I pick a delicious watermelon. It should also be noted that I plan on including pictures of this evening’s pizza in tomorrow’s entry.
