(Above: Master Blend tartare. Usually one is not supposed to use ground beef for a tartare, but our ground beef is of superior quality and therefore works for the task. I seared the bottom of the patty just like La Cuisine did, topped it with an egg yolk, surrounded it with a thinly sliced / sauteed red mini potato. Then, surrounding all that was a garden fresh Kale salad. The green ‘pins’ jutting from the beef are spicy arugula seedpods..)
Active Summary (8:07 PM) Today began with calisthenics, writing, and a beef pasture check. This was ensued by IV’ing a calf for about 30 minutes and then venturing back to Jacobhouse where I wrote and completed some Macroeconomics assignments until 10 AM. After that, I returned outdoors where I weeded for a while in both gardens before finding that almost all of the Moo-Magic bags had sold. This led to compost bag filling / placing them down at the stand with Padre’s aid. Before returning indoors, I tended to a Master Blend customer.
After a delectable lunch of fire-crusted burger-steak, a baked potato, and a delicious salad, I returned to Jacobhouse where I wrote for a brief time before tending to a couple Master Blend orders – one an online order and one a drive-in. Farm activities followed shortly after which included: feeding bovines, catching a bovine for embryo transfer, catching another bovine for a bit of hoof-work*, catching yet another bovine to place in a small lot with her calf, moving that calf into the same lot, and IV’ing two calves that we thought had turned around for the better. It was after all this and performing a beef pasture check that Padre and I quickly assembled a wooden foundation for Madre’s tool shed and moved that foundation down to her workshop.
I then returned indoors and prepared supper – a repast that is shown above.
Final Note: Tomorrow there will be much Master Blend related activities. It appears that I will be receiving almost a ton of beef that will need to be sorted into the appropriate freezers. There are also a number of people who will be showing up over the next two days to pick up their reserved cuts.
* Got splattered with quite a lot of manure/mud during this catch, so I reeked for the rest of the afternoon.
