Tape on the kitchen wall in Jacob's container house.

Electrical planning, day 3. (Tape times.)

2/19/19:

Building Summary: Today I bolstered the frame extension at the front of Jacobhouse (it is now attached by more than 3 screws), and I began in-depth planning of the electrical wiring. For the latter, I had to go to the storage container and research the dimensions of the oven hood-fan. By the end of the morning, I had all of the kitchen appliance locations plotted out along with all* the placements for lights, outlets, and switches.

Commentary: This morning was a long one in which I accomplished all of goals from the final note of yesterday’s post. That in itself is a highlight, I suppose, which is fortunate because the act of putting green tape upon the walls of Jacobhouse was not the most inspiring work.

I should not be too harsh, though, for there were a couple actual bright spots to my time down at the work site today. The first such point occurred when I opened the range-hood box. It was my first time seeing the apparatus in person, and I was actually quite impressed. Firstly, it had a plug that can be inserted into any outlet. This offers great flexibility when it comes to electrical planning. As for the device’s appearance, the hood itself is made of black tempered glass while the ‘duct’ that siphons the air out is polished stainless steel – the exact same substance of which the walls of Jacobhouse are made. It’s going to match the rest of the kitchen quite nicely**.

The second highlight occurred right as I was leaving Jacobhouse for the day. I was about to board my Segway when I realized the uniquity of the scene within which I found myself. I could not help but wonder: Is this happening anywhere else in the world today?

Final Note: I expect there will be more electrical planning tomorrow. That, and I plan on reversing the ‘cow-boards’ I put up the other day so all the sides become equally smooth.

*Subject to change, of course.

**I will also appreciate the fact that the vent hood is above the range rather than beside it like it currently is at old-house.
