7/13/2025: Today began in the low 70s and warmed into the mid 80s. Quite humid.

Lunch consisted of a fried egg and beef mixture, accompanied by a colorful salad drizzled with a tangy vinaigrette. El almuerzo consistía en una mezcla frita de huevos y res. Esta estaba acompañada de una ensalada colorida rociada con una vinagreta picante. 
After lunch, I prepared the hamburger steaks Padre, Shae, and I were going to have for dinner. Después del almuerzo, preparé los bistecs de hamburguesa que mi padre, Shae y yo íbamos a comer para la cena.

Lunch on July 14, 2025, consisted of a sushi platter accompanied by a bowl of miso soup garnished with green cabbage, spinach, leftover roast beef, and a piece of Havarti cheese. El almuerzo del 14 de julio de 2025 consistía en una bandeja de sushi acompañada de un tazón de sopa de miso adornada con repollo verde, espinaca sobras de asado de res y un trozo de queso havarti. 
The stormy afternoon of July 14, 2025 was a good afternoon to do homework for my accounting class. La tarde tormentosa de 14 de julio de 2025 fue una buena tarde para hacer la tarea de mi clase de contabilidad.

This morning I made a stew for dinner tonight. This stew included a sirloin tip roast and chopped sweet potatoes. Esta mañana preparé un guiso para la cena esta noche. Este guiso contenía un asado de punta de solamillo y batata picada.

Dinner consisted of Belgian blue sirloin tip & sweet potato stew. This stew was topped with avocado slices and a piece of sourdough bread. This morning, July 17, 2025, I worked with sourdough, feeding Doug and making sourdough starter packs for Master Blend customers. Esta mañana del 17 de julio de 2025, trabajé con masa madre alimentando a Doug y haciendo paquetes de masa madre para los clientes de Master Blend. 
Lunch consisted of beef stew topped with finely chopped red cabbage and a piece of toasted sourdough bread. There was also a green salad made by Padre. This is a set of the bolts, nuts, and washers I purchased to attach the frame to the front of Guesthouse. I think the bolt is green because it’s a huge ground screw. El almuerzo de 18/7/2025 consistía en sobras de guiso cubiertas con repollo verde y huevo duro. Todo esto estaba acompañado de una ensalada verde cubierta también con rodajas de huevo duro. 
This afternoon, I made some sourdough rolls and a sourdough loaf. Here they are rising. Esta tarde, preparé algunos rollos de masa madre y una barra de masa madre. Aquí ellos están leudando.

7/19/2025: Today began in the high 70s and warmed into the mid 90s. Very hot morning, hot afternoon that continued to remain quite warm even after the clouds covered the sun. Late afternoon cooled off to reasonable temperatures.
This morning, July 19, 2025, I made peanut butter and chocolate puff pastries to share at the store. Esta mañana del 19 de julio de 2025, hice hojaldres de mantequilla de maní y chocolate para compartir en la tienda.

Dinner was a fantastic burger with Wagyu beef, bacon, and Havarti cheese on a sourdough roll. On top was ketchup, mustard, finely chopped red onion, and a leaf of romaine lettuce. La cena: Una hamburguesa maravillosa con carne de Wagyu, tocino y queso havarti sobre un rollo de masa madre. Encima había ketchup, mostaza, cebolla roja finamente picada y una hoja de lechuga romana. 
After eating the burger, I enjoyed a sliced red apple sprinkled with cinnamon and accompanied by a dollop of Greek yogurt. Después de comer la hamburguesa, disfruté de una manzana roja en rodajas espolvoreada con canela y acompañada de una cucharada de yogur griego.

Final Note: Between baking, stewing, roasting and bacon-burger’ing, there was definitely plenty of foods to enjoy this week. It was, in retrospect, a long week, but it was also a swift week, and this coming one is bound to be similar. It is presently 8:50 AM on Sunday (7/20), and Padre and Madre are about to head off to Mexico.
Something odd: Over the past couple months, I’ve noticed the random appearances of a fungus near the frame of my front door. It is likely indicative of decay, but it turns out that this specific fungus – the Chocolate Tube Slime Mold (its real and very-fitting name) – consumes wood-eating bacteria and even other fungi that decompose lumber.
Nevertheless, I’ll be adding a roof to Jacobhouse in the future to grant the entryway more shelter from the elements. I think that is one thing that I would (and have already changed) in current and future construction projects. All entries need plenty of shelter to prevent the permeation of Nature.

What a tasty week, pretty sure that bacon cheese burger, on the homemade sourdough bun, was the best burger I’ve ever had… it was quite the adventure this week, in a number of ways, and it was a pleasure to share it with you and the others we’re often wandering with.
