(Above: Less boxes in the kitchen. Goody.)
Active Summary: This morning’s activities consisted of checking the beef pasture, collecting some Moo-Magic funds, helping Padre with some cattle work, and preparing Jacobhouse for habitation. The lattermost task included: erecting a hamper in the bathroom, removing dishes / utensils from the kitchen counter into the cupboards, removing and de-wrinkling the curtains in the washer/dryer unit, placing said curtains onto two different rods – one beneath the bed for the 30″ curtains and one above the sliding glass doors for the 86″ curtains. In regard to the latter, I decided that I would only need one set, because that is all that is required to cover the large sliding glass door window; adding more would only make it more difficult to push the curtains all the way to one side. To finish off the morning, Padre and I discussed a deck / stair railing made entirely of cow-wood.
(8:29 PM Update): Experienced much cattle activities this afternoon, and was unable to visit Jacobhouse for long. Fortunately (and unfortunately), I’m still awaiting the trip in to Svinga Brothers’ to procure some aluminum angle-stock, so I could not have advanced much even if I wanted to.
TIL: Today I returned the oven ‘mitts’ I utilized for the Fall Fest back to Jacobhouse. This reminded me of another lesson I learned during yesterday’s event: the sheer utility of ‘Ove-gloves’. Unlike ordinary oven mitts, these gloves are indeed gloves, with each individual finger having full grip and nearly the same flexibility of an unclad finger. I will say that direct contact with an ultra-hot cast iron skillet can lead to slight discomfort, but that is also no different from an ordinary mitt, and with these gloves, one can move that skillet from ‘here to there’ with much more deficiency and accuracy. I approve, and I reckon that such gloves will prove even better when cooking on a grill.
Commentary: I sat for a while this evening, wondering what in the heck I was going to comment about. Once again, it wasn’t writer’s block, because I had plenty of thoughts whirling about in the noggin, but none of them seemed particularly fit for publication. It’s a plight that I have experienced before, and that I believe I mentioned in a post not too long ago. Forcing commentary is not a fun task – especially when I mean to make this website as much for myself as for those who read it. Thus, I’m going to modify this commentary section once again and make it into a “slide-show / picture” area with non-forced commentary below the images. Of course, I will still be able to include additional comments beforehand (like I am right now), but I will not feel the need to always do so. Without further ado, here are today’s pictures:
Final Note: Tomorrow, I intend to venture into Svinga Brothers’ of Ocala to procure the last pieces of aluminum angle stock for Jacobhouse.
Plasticity is essential, not a choice or borne of mere happenstance, it’s a skill….you’re well on your way
