Turquoise & Trim (and Steak/Shrimp Saturday).

Building Summary: Today at Jacobhouse, I measured / marked / cut aluminum angle stock for the west side of Closet-Wall. The two side pieces were ¾” while the bottom and top pieces were 2″. The reason for this, is because on the bottom and top I had to account for the galvalume’s ridges. Unfortunately, I ruined one of the lengths of 2″ by cutting the side-notches a tad too deep, but afterward, I was able to use that piece to determine the actual dimensions that were needed. So, not a complete loss.

By midmorning, I had four pieces of aluminum trim ready for fastening*, but I did not do so. This is because I determined that it would be best to paint the insides of Closet-Wall and the bathroom wall-closet before applying any more trim that could possibly be stained by mistakenly spattered paint. Therefore, on my way to the Harbison’s Farmers Market, I stopped by Sparr Farm Supply and purchased a gallon of ‘liquid turquoise’.

Commentary: I was not entirely certain what I was going to do at Jacobhouse this morning when I arrived. I had originally planned to continue with the trimming of Closet-Wall, but in yesterday’s Final Note, I made mention of the logical course; that is, painting before trimming. Fortunately, I decided to go that route, yet seeing as I was already in Jacobhouse and prepared to work, I ended up spending a bit of time this morning preparing trim for Closet-Wall’s west side.

Apologies for the phone camera.
I was too amazed by the sheer number of shrooms
to remember that I should turn the device on its side.

I realize that much of the commentary thus far was already mentioned in the summary. Therefore, I must include a couple highlights that I enjoyed today. The first occurred early this morning when Padre and I went for a Segway ride through the beef pasture. There, on account of the excessive moisture of the past week, were a plethora of mushrooms. I generally tend to avoid running over the fungi, because I enjoy their uniqueness and how pristine they look when freshly risen. This morning, though, I was not afforded that option. There were simply too many of them!

As for the second highlight, it would likely be today’s lunch. Indeed, for that meal, Padre and I feasted upon Master Blend Angus Sirloin, J&J Shrimp**, and a salad comprised 95% of vegetation found at the Harbison’s Farmers’ Market. There was a special procedure I followed when it came to the sirloin and shrimp. I began by searing the beef for 2-minutes on both sides (medium-high temp: 6). Then, I turned the pan up and blackened the shrimp for 2-minutes on the first side (high temp: 9) and less than 40 seconds on the second side. I proceeded to toss the shrimp into pre-heated bowls with lemon/butter within them, and then I placed the steaks onto also pre-heated plates (hot enough to hear a sizzle). This was followed by my pouring a portion of the buttery lemon / shrimp juice atop the steak, and then by my bringing the prepared surf & turf to the dining table. All of it was fantastic.

Final Note: Tomorrow, I will likely be removing the shelves within Closet-Wall/bathroom wall-closet, taping over any trim that I already have in place, and painting everything that I can with the turquoise paint I procured today. If I get started fairly early in the morning, I may be able to apply the second coat before noon.

*Will likely go much faster when I’m using a diamond plate to cut them rather than a hacksaw.

**Procured from the farmer’s market. Deshelled and deveined for convenience.
