All panels up and all receptacles in!

Building Summary: Today I began by measuring / marking / cutting the final piece of metal that ended up going onto the western wall of the bedroom. On finding that it did not fit perfectly, I spent a bit of time trimming it to the correct dimensions*. This was followed by my fastening the piece up with rivets and then by my installing the final outlet within Jacobhouse. To finish up the morning, I attempted trimming the outlet faceplates to make them sit flush against the metal. My efforts worked for the top outlet, but the bottom outlet will likely need some sticky-putty to fasten the top portion directly against the wall.

Commentary: It was a shorter morning at Jacobhouse today on account of my tending to an egg shipment** and going down to the Harbison Farmers’ Market. However, I did still manage to complete a variety of tasks – two of which held some significance. Firstly, the wall paneling is practically complete. I ended up utilizing every one of the fourteen Galvalume sheets Madre and me*** procured at Home Depot, but there are still plenty of scraps leftover for if I need to use any as bottom trim.

Secondly, and there must be a ‘secondly’ because I included a ‘firstly’ in the first paragraph, I wired the final receptacle within Jacobhouse today. There are no loose ends dangling out anywhere; all that’s needed now is a house-to-pole connection. It’s my hope that the task can be completed before I venture out to Colorado this coming Tuesday, but we shall see.****

Final Note: Tomorrow, I will likely add some more galvalume and flashing to the few places that still need it (i.e. under the bathroom’s doorway, above and beside the shower, and the north portion of closet-wall’s eastern side). The next step after that will be to clean up all the aluminum pieces/shards that have inundated Jacobhouse throughout the past week and a half of metalwork.

*Because I was contending with a short length of relatively uneven container ceiling (north to south versus east to west), I had to trim a slight curve into the sheet via a combination of nibbling and snipping.

**Consisted of my obtaining some farm-fresh eggs from Rachel the egg-lady.

***Or is it ‘Madre and I’? Sounds strange, either way.

****I know it’s because I am impatient to get the lights on in Jacobhouse, but at present, it seems that Terry Hendrickson comes by his first name quite honestly!

  1. I think that’s tarry instead of terry, but hilarious either way. Congrats on the final big piece of metal being put in place
