Summary: This day began with calisthenics, piano practice, UF correspondence, and writing. I next ventured outdoors where I performed a beef pasture inspection with Padre before riding in to Winn Dixie with him while he visited the DMV for some semi-trailer shenanigans. It took only about 13 minutes in the grocery store, but that was unfortunately not the case for Padre’s portion of the excursion. Indeed, the DMV’s stereotypical sluggishness was further impeded by a statewide server breakdown. The wait ended up being somewhere around 35 to 45 minutes, and we returned home right at 10 AM. I wrote for the remainder of the morning, and at 12:20 PM, I prepared and grilled a couple Master Blend Wangus cubed steaks. The midday meal occurred at 12:45 PM and consisted of: the aforementioned beef and a springmix/arugula salad.
(4:30 PM Update:) After lunch, I returned to Jacobhouse where I worked on school for about 1.25 hours, took a brief rest, and then tended to some UF correspondence concerning my dropping the “Mass Media & You” class*. About 35 minutes of farm time was ensued by my return home where I continued with the weekly reading for the “Principles of Advertising”. A half-chapter’s worth of reading was followed by my writing the majority of this entry and then by more reading. It is my hope that I will be able to complete the majority of coursework by the end of tomorrow, so that I may tend to typical maintenance tasks on Friday and have a somewhat normal weekend. A positive part of all this, is that in spite of the reduced schedule flexibility, “Principles of Advertising” still appears as if it will be an interesting topic of study.
Final Note: Dinner tonight will consist of a presently unknown entree accompanied by a plenitude of greens (namely arugula).
*This was a decision reached with some difficulty, and I’m still not completely certain it was the right way to go. What I do know, is that as of this afternoon 3 days in, I had not even tended to the course’s introductory discussion let alone the extensive weekly reading on account of my working on ‘Principles of Advertising’ (of which I had completed only about half of the required work), writing (of which I had already sacrificed over 3.5 hours), leisure (of which I had sacrificed over 2 hours), and farming (which remained about the same). In other words, the effects upon my daily regimen were beyond what I could stand for, so I had to make a cut. I will likely continue taking one class at a time until my circumstances change or until I have completed the degree in 6.5 years.
