Active Summary: Today began with calisthenics, a beef pasture check with Padre, and some weeding in the garden. This was ensued by almost two hours of writing in Jacobhouse which was itself followed by 45 minutes of leisure time and 35 minutes of cutting watermelon as potatoes baked for lunch. The midday meal occurred at 12:10 PM and consisted of baked potatoes, a bowl of Aneta’s Żurek soup, some refreshing cucumber salad, and Nickles’ watermelon.
I didn’t take any pictures of lunch, so here are some pictures of last night’s dinner:
(5:13 PM Update:) Afternoon activities began with more writing which was followed by a brief rest and some revising. I next ventured outdoors where I helped with a number of cattle-related activities, including: moving feed buckets, catching cows for embryo transfer, checking bovines out in the beef pasture, pitch-forking feed, and rechecking bovines out in the field. At the time of this update, #273 is calving, so Padre and I are taking a brief break before returning outdoors to see if she has ‘popped’ the newborn out from between her ample sized Belgian Blue buttocks.
(6:54 PM Update:) Unfortunately, Big Blue #273 had a stillborn calf. We left it with her so she can come to realize the fact that it is not alive and move on. Such is the farm. Here is a picture of another Blue that is currently thriving (along with a picture of assembled pizza ingredients):
Final Note: This evening I intend to make some bacon & sausage pizza for dinner. The dough is already made, the mozzarella has been washed, and the meats are thawing. It is going to be delicious.
Delicious indeed
