(Above: Berries procured at Mercado Tetitlán. These along with 2 cups more were acquired for a mere 20 pesos.)
Weather: Today began in the high 50s and warmed into the low 80s. Sun lasted until midafternoon when the clouds arrived and shed rain.
The Morning Walk & Write:
Dawn over Taxco [4/23/2022].
A glance back toward Casa Spratling on a clear morning.
This is called an Apple-Banana (or plátano perón). It has a slightly tart flavor and possesses a unique texture that is almost crunchy.
After writing and having a breakfast of the aforementioned banana, I tended to pictures for yesterday’s blog post while enjoying a cup of café.
Lunch at De Totopo y Salsa Chilaquileria – Light albeit satiating and delicious fare on a panoramic terrace – 10/10
This is the place-mat at “De Totopos y Salsa”. It shows a diagram of chilaquiles and lists the various additions and toppings that one can choose.
A fine view was to be had while waiting for my Chilaquile lunch.
The vista just behind where I was sitting, displaying the rolling mountain-hills of Guerrero.
Chilaquiles drenched in salsa verde and topped with lettuce, crema, queso seco, and roasted poblano peppers. The flavor was excellent.
Midafternoon Snack & Walk:
Berries procured at Mercado Tetitlán. These along with 2 cups more were acquired for a mere 20 pesos.
The blackberries were tart and juicy. I ended up eating all of them for my afternoon snack.
View from the central terrace of Casa Spratling at midafternoon (around 3 PM).
A view of Taxco from Carretera Federal 95 directly after it runs past Hotel Loma Linda.
I found this unique little backstreet on the way back to my abode. Here, I was able to see all the terraces of Casa Spratling, the grand Ficus, and even my little room beneath its sturdy boughs.
Another similar view bordered by Bougainvilleas.
On returning to Casa Spratling, and after sitting out a quick rain & wind storm, I ventured out to the terraces. There, I noticed how the sun was again shining solely on the Santa Prisca Cathedral and the hills behind it. I took this picture from the highest terrace.

Dinner at Antologia – Exquisite cooking and presentation; again, an experience. Not just food. – 11/10
A return to Antologia. I don’t know what they season their bread with, but the smell is always tremendous. Also, this evening’s spicy Dijon mustard was even better than the one I enjoyed two nights previously.
La Paloma Negra: Tequila, agua mineral, y liquor de naranja.
Antologia’s picanha: An Easter dinner gifted to me by mis padres. It was 300 grams of skillet seared beef accompanied by vegetables which tasted as if they had been boiled in butter before being seared on the same pan.
It was all truly delectable, and I have officially come to think of Antologia as my favorite restaurant in Taxco.
On returning to Casa Spratling, I found a late-night fiesta occurring. The music was loud – much to Ms. Violante’s dislike – and it ended up going until 5 AM. For me, however, the music only lasted until 11 PM when I turned on my little fan (ventilador) and fell asleep.
Final Note: Many thanks to Padre and Madre for the Easter meal; I’ll be back home to start cooking and preparing tasty foods within 5 nights! I very much look forward to it, especially with today’s acquisition (4/24/2022).
