(Above: One of the most unique things I saw today was a painting. Casa de las moscas. House of the flies – another painting representing the sentiment caused by the news-wrought pandemania.)
Weather: Today began in the high 50s and proceeded to warm into the low 80s. Sunny.
Breakfast at Scaffecito – Can’t really ask for a better breakfast or atmosphere in which to enjoy it – 10/10
Dawn of 3/30/2022.
Casa Spratling (my room is to the right of the Ficus tree).
While reading some Kreutzer’s Sonata, I enjoyed a breakfast of fruit (papaya, pineapple, and canteloupe), yogurt, and Café Americano (coffee with a little bit of milk).
A morning walk and a stop at the Casa Borda painting exhibition (Cultural Center): I kept the paintings at full resolution for future review.
The eyes of the girl in this painting bore incredible detail.
A portrayal of the suffering the pandemic needlessly caused.
Casa de las moscas. House of the flies – another painting representing the sentiment caused by the news-wrought pandemania.
The realism of this painting was the greatest of all.
Lunch Part 1: Comida Corrida – Great flavor, ridiculous price, but still a tad hungry after – 7.5/10
The menu, and its ridiculous prices.
A very photogenic mound of spiced rice.
The whole spread. I was uncertain of how to eat tortillas with soup, so I ended up just rolling them up and dunking them (though I did fill one with rice, meatball, and salsa at one point). A light meal that felt good on the belly.
Lunch Part 2:Mi Fondita – Guacamole still excellent as expected – 8.5/10
Mi Fondita’s tremendous bowl of Guacamole. The fellow who waited on Padre and I remembered who I was – partly because of the comment I made about it being ‘el mejor guacamole de mi vida’ and partly because they don’t get many visitors of my height.
An afternoon walk up to the Parroquia de Guadalupe and up toward Cristo (not all the way)
At this angle, the Church of Santa Prisca almost appeared dwarfed by the Casa Spratling ficus tree.
A church on the road that leads up to Cristo.
Common Taxco problem for Size 16.
An admittedly crude story from a certain Sam Robinson came to mind when I witnessed this Mexican mountain burro. The story was included in my 1-4 journal but not on this blog where the general populace may witness it.
Impressive supports for a single porch.
Dinner at Restaurante El Adobe – Great quality, great flavor; Lleno y comódo – 10/10
La ensalada verde – topped with a little bit of queso panela and an in-house honey mustard vinaigrette.
The whole impressive spread.
Papas cambray Guerrero con queso fundido: cheese-topped roasted potatoes. Very satiating.
Filete de pescado al mojo de ajo: garlic-encrusted white fish accompanied by steamed vegetables, a mound of spiced rice, and 3 slices of garlic-butter bread.
Final Note: I am working on this post on the morning of 3/31/2022. All is well, and the morning is beautiful (as always?). I’m about to go walk around for a little while before engaging in some write time.
