10/4/2020 – Sleepy Sunday.

10/4/2020

(Above: This is the second time in recent months that we have spotted a cow dozing with her head resting against another bovine.)

Summary: Today began with calisthenics, piano practice, and a beef pasture inspection with Padre. On my way back to Jacobhouse, I weeded the garden for 10 minutes, and on venturing indoors I prepared some Italian beef sausage and puff pastry dough. The ensuing hour was spent writing, and after that, I put together a mozzarella / prosciutto pastry, and I compiled an invoice for Master Blend. Between 11:15 AM and 12:00 PM, I was able to engage in leisure.

(6:23 PM Update:) Afternoon activities were initiated with more leisure. This was followed by my venturing outdoors at 3:00 PM to tend a Master Blend customer and then to help Padre with a number of bovine-related activities. The latter included: feeding cattle, capturing a couple cows (for embryo transfer and calf-nourishment), breaking up fodder via pitchfork, and performing a beef pasture inspection*. We returned indoors by 5:20 PM, and it was at that point I tended to Master Blend inventory, correspondence, and printing a shipping label. After that, I set about concluding this day’s entry and preparing an ‘egg-baked-potato’** for dinner.

A grey walk-around. This evening, it was drizzling lightly as we inspected the beef pasture.

Final Note: Now that this entry is complete, I intend to spend the remainder of this day engaged in leisure-related activities.

*I do not know if it was the red umbrella I was carrying, the rain (and accompanying weather-change), or both, but the beef cattle seemed quite riled this evening. They were running and ‘frolicking’ their way across the south-east pasture – a ridiculous sight on account of their portliness.
